Actually, in comparison to the Nothing that existed prior, Apartheid built 10 universities (as I have it) for blacks and many schools, attendance was considerably more affordable than today, textbooks were free and the vast majority of blacks did not pay income tax. Regarding the lower standards it should be noted that the same problem of 'inaccessible western' education existed then, even more so than today and a required pass rate of 30%/40% back then for a country that has not been sufficiently built yet was simply not an option.

Venda
Limpopo
Medunsa
Rhodes?
UWC?
Westville (sort of)

Can't think of any others and no text books weren't free in those days. You had to buy all stationary, it only got free in my days but my brothers and older cousins had to buy everything. Even in the early 90s government only supplied some stationary free the rest you had to get for yourself.

Singapore?!! Are you seriously comparing Singapore's situation to SA?

Well, first you would have to accept Malema as your benevolent dictator. Then you shrink the country to just below the size of Johannesburg....and relocate it to one of the world's busiest sea trade routes. After that, it will be easy

It seems you are the one with a racist problem. All black people have the same capacity to succeed than white people, but the thing that fails most children from poorer backgrounds (of any race) is bad parenting.

Uhm yes. Lack of propper education and guidance from either parents or other grownups make them dummies. Very few people have the will power to educate themselves especially when the resources to do that is harder to get.
 
Really strange how education was better under apartheid. ANC's better life for all. Epic fail.

I blame the culture of entitlement bred by the ANC and EFF. Why study when apparently everything was stolen from you and when it is given back you will be stupidly rich and never have to work for anything ever in your life again?

I know a few people that never had Maths or Science in school and are not dummies (of course the opposite is also true).
