It's been far higher than that in Jhb.

Now if you said 65% per day on average, it would make more sense. And that's still more than enough to fully charge your batteries...

I'm talking about in the sun hours. For the other times that's what the batteries that are getting cheaper and cheaper are for.

Buying more panels solves most problems

Even in crap weather panels produce something

It is still cheaper to buy more panels to meet those crappy weather days needs vs battery

On sunny days it will be coming out your ears naturally

Then how much gets wasted on the sunny days?
 
The ANC just like to keep things, just so.

Because they have integrated themselves into every current system to make a buck from it. Changing means they might lose out so rather stifle progress and keep earning money.

Even currently most systems run into this wastage already

Lots of systems with just a single 5kwh battery

Just meant that there comes a certain point when more panels makes more sense than more batteries

ie if you have enough battery to carry you overnight already

Naturally you can stockpile more for longer outages if you have even more batteries

But we are heading into diminishing returns territory then

5kW battery = R20k

I would choose the battery.
 
Not far off of 10k. Will get there in about 12 months from installation. Just bleak that it all got cheaper.

I'm stoked. Will mean my phase 2 and phase 3 upgrades (whenever they may happen) should be less of a blow.

Yea If your grid in area is reliable

For extended outages more panels will work better on cloudy days

15day outage like some have seen the extra battery means nothing if you can't recharge it

SO i suppose the other factors like how stable is grid in your area will be biggest factor for me

If grid is normally ok more battery means you can save more even with existing panels

IF your batteries aren't full end of day you know you worked panels like slaves

And here I thought the reason for reduced loadshedding was because hardly any traffic lights work around Gauteng!
The absence of loadshedding has really highlighted the failure of various municipalities in keeping traffic lights operational.
