That is beyond idiotic, people go for testing for peace of mind and to know if they should tell their contacts to isolate and get tested. Not some government fear machine.

I think its value is there - in a pre-vaccinated population. Post-vaccination or with high antibody rates in the population you're really just counting numbers for nice-to-have-stats in the end.
Of course for now you still need it, because medical aids won't release any special funding for covid treatment even OTC if you haven't tested positive.

Basically the positive cases should not impact our view on "waves" or "lockdowns" anymore. Those are needed when we cannot control the mortality of this thing, and so far it seems the world is doing a much better (but not yet perfect) job of it.

Why oh why would someone who is healthy, and has zero to minimal symptoms go for a medical procedure?

Oh, and do you really think altruism is at the heart of the covid response?

Also, do you think the response to covid is run by healthcare practitioners or politicians?

When the army was deployed in April last year, and law abiding citizens were murdered by them in their own backyards, was that the way a doctor would handle the response to this disease?

Not entirely correct. I went to get tested and no one else was there but the nurse. Now I have peace of mind (this is month ago so clearly I didn't get covid).

We are tracking hospitalisations and deaths. Thing is, for now, SA hasn't yet severed the connection between cases and hospitalisations. That will come with a higher vaccination rate. We are not there just yet.

Ok, you could've gotten it from the nurse, could've at the shops or or.
 
I'm not sure I agree. GP got it big and made the entire country look like a moerse wave. The rest of the country is still burning through but at a slower pace.
