Dear iBurster,

The economy has grown so rapidly and over so many consecutive quarters that when it comes to industries from telecommunications to air travel, South African consumers are given a wide variety of choice. For example, iBurst last year entered the voice communications market with the launch of our iCall Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service. This year, we significantly reduced the call rates on iCall while keeping iCall to iCall telephone calls free. With iCall, it is cheaper to call a landline number overseas than it is to call Cape Town from Johannesburg using a traditional landline.

iBurst recently took a further step towards making the local telecoms sector more competitive with the launch of the iBurst Webfone. iCall subscribers will find that the iBurst Webfone is the ideal device with which to use the iCall service. A great feature of the Webfone is that it can also be used as a modem. Simply plug it into a laptop or desktop computer to be able to surf the Internet after subscribing to the iBurst wireless broadband service.

Please visit www.iburst.co.za for more information about reducing your voice communication costs with iCall and the Webfone.

Kind regards,

The iBurst Team

@w1z4rd, yeah it seems I'm also still on their billing system as I also received that exact same email just after 2PM today.

Better keep an eye on your bank account in case some cash gets removed from it.

Ah. WASPA is what I am looking for. They've spammed me again today.

should anyone wish to take it further it would be ISPA not WASPA that would be the correct body to complaint to

ISPA's details...

Dear Michael,

If you are not satisfied with the ISPA member's response, which appears to
be the case, the matter will be heard at the next Code of Conduct Panel
Hearing. There will be another one before year end, and we have sufficient
complaints to warrant one, but I cannot commit to a date yet.

Panel hearings are closed, please see items 5-10 in the complaints procedure:

http://www.ispa.org.za/code/code_complaint_procedure.shtml

and the following information for the Panel:

http://www.ispa.org.za/code/complaints_panel.shtml

The complaint is deliberated in terms of ISPA's Code of Conduct:

http://www.ispa.org.za/code/code_of_conduct.shtml

In addition Panel hearings may be appealed by either party, with the appeal
verdict being the final word on the matter.

I'm unable to provide any comment on ISPA's behalf, but you may address
specific concerns to ISPA's management committee for additional comment. You
can email <[email protected]> with "Attention: ISPA ManCom" in the
subject line ;-)

Dear iBurster,

You may be wondering why you have recently been able to receive so many large emails at once without that annoying “quota notification” making its dreaded appearance.

As our customers are our most valued asset, we have listened to your suggestions and have increased the size of the iBurst subscriber mailbox by 200 times. The previous 10 megabyte size limit has been increased to 2 gigabytes, enabling you receive many more large emails than ever before. The size limit for sending and receiving individual emails remains at 15 megabytes per email.

We’re committed to making more of these modest improvements to your iBurst experience during 2008 because we believe that small steps lead to giant leaps.

If you aren’t using iBurst email yet, please consider doing so. It’s FREE, and you receive 5 aliases with it. What on earth is an alias? That’s when you can have various email addresses directing all emails to the same inbox. To utilise this free email service, simply sign up at www.iburst.co.za (go to Self Service >>> Your Products >>> Manage ISP Services)

Kind regards,
The iBurst Team

Got that in the email just now.

Stupid fooking idiots.

Another reason why not to use iBurst. They're digging their own (almost complete) grave.

Ha ha ha ha.

I lodged a complaint at ISPA and finally got an email from the head of legal department at ibust saying sorry.

Have not been spammed again since...

EDIT:

Nope, seems like they don't care. Got this gem in my mailbox this morning...

Pay-per-use

Bandwidth…don’t get caught without it

What is Pay-per-use?
Pay-per-use is the convenient and simple way to ensure you never run out of bandwidth. When you have used up your allocated data bundle for the month on your iBurst package, Pay-per-use will kick in and you will be billed at a rate per MB for every additional MB used.

Who should get Pay-per-use?

* Everyone with an iBurst subscription who cannot afford to run out of bandwidth
* Individuals with fluctuating monthly data usage
* Small businesses that need to be online at all times
* Users on the move who can’t always top up
* Subscribers not wishing to purchase bandwidth boosters online via credit card
* Gamers who want to ensure they always have bandwidth available

What does it cost?
There is no fee for activating Pay-per-use. Subscribers will be billed R0.95 for every additional MB used on all iBurst Wireless Packages

To activate Pay-per-use on your current iBurst package simply go to www.iburst.co.za, visit the Packages page under “Buy iBurst” and click on Pay-per-use. Insert username and password to apply. Alternatively call us on 0861 428 778 for more information.

Ok, so I hope this sad story is at an end now.

I got a reply form ibust. I have 4 (yes, FOUR) accounts on their system. One of them was not even linked to a contract and that is the one that kept spamming me.

No wonder people get double debit orders on their accounts.

Anyway, now to see if they decide to resurrect one of my FOUR accounts some day...
