Just saw a newspaper report about some supervirus creating havoc with SA bandwidth in general. Might explain the choked ADSL bandwidth.

Hi again

It is now 03:27 on August 15, and my ADSL is flying. 30 kB/s + and ping times of around 300 ms with online gaming. If you have never experienced broadband it is worthwhile to stay up and see what it looks like at least once :)

Notice the magic ? :p

After the bewitching hour and on to the early mornings your ADSL magically transforms into broadband.

Doesn't help with capped speed though.... myspeed : <timed out>

Getting substantial speed fluctuations ranging between 120 kbits/sec and a minute later, 270 kbits/sec. Anyone else having this problem ?

Down- and Upload-Test with: support.cybernet.ch

1.) Download small file (file length of 62 kByte)
Download duration : 3065 ms
Measured download data rate for a small file: 166 kBit/s

2.) Download big file (file length of 500 kByte)
Download duration : 13509 ms
Measured download data rate: 303 kBit/s

3.) Upload data rate measurement with 125 kByte compressed binary file:
Upload duration: 5117 ms
Measured upload data rate: 200 kBit/s

Generally, I've been quite happy with my speed the past 10 days. But then again, I only use it in the evening.

Hi guys

It is now 20:22 on Saturday, and my speed is: 264.13 kbits/sec.

I must say that I have had a good weekend so far concerning internet speed and online gaming. My ping times were consistently below 1000 ms, which is a vast improving from most other times. Do you guys experience the same?

We all seem to be quite knowledgeable here , why don't we setup a site whereby we can test b/w speeds locally and internationally from one particular host to a reliable overseas and local host , from within ZA !
