Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has seen new speed cameras on the N1 between Centurion and the N3 split?

There are so many different speeds enforced on that road now due to road works, and never know what is the limit. My Girlfriend was doing 115km\h and got flashed, but she is new to gauteng and didnt know where about she was caught. So I just wanted to find out where\if there are new cameras so I can give her an estimate on what her fine will be.

If anyone can help Id greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

:)

I was doing 115 in a 60 zone (also a temp zone which I didn't notice) and got a R500 fine.
So don't think your gf will pay more than that, unless she means 150.

The latest garmin maps is awesome, it actually updates with a popup on the screen when driving into different speed zones. I have it installed on my i7110 Samsung :D

And I got a R500 fine for doing 76 in 60 zone! WTF!

I got a R200 fine in Plet for 75 in a 60 zone.
and R150 for 70 in a 60 zone in Stellenbosh
and R150 for 137 in a 120 zone outside Du Toits kloof tunnel

U got ripped off.

Was driving in the South Cape during December, so may be getting a couple more. :(

It seems that R500 will be the new rate! I just hope there is not more coming!

See Charge code 4501 in this document:

I'm not aware of stationary/permanent cameras on the N1 between John Vorster -> Allandale [before N3 split]. There were a few [both sides] between John Vorster -> Botha/Hans Strydom [towards PTA] and on the other side towards PTA ...but not towards Jozi.

However i've seen very often cops standing under the bridges, especially under the New Road bridge [the one with the maxi restaurant] . On sundays i constantly see them standing near there but right at the bottom of one of those a looooong down-hill sections. You can usually spot the squad car if you know where to look, but you only see the cops when you're near the bottom [and then it's too late] ;). At night they love to sit under the New Road Bridge too .

So if i were to guess where you'd get "flashed" or where they would put up cameras, i'd go with the New Road Bridge....you can go quite fast there usually.

The speed fines in a permanent zone is a lot more than in a construction->temporary zone.
Doign 71-75 is R250 and 76-80.99 is R500. The next fine is R1000.
