Speed up home pc

That is exactly what happens. Even before opening the browser the pc will be sluggish and as soon as I open firefox it becomes useless. It sort of settles after about 2 hours of idle but even then its very slow.

This is not normal,malware perhaps?

or what u can do it get a small 64gb ssd just for a boot drive/main programs

ssd getting cheaper lately so can even get a 128gb but will kill your buget a bit

small ssd wiht a new pc,all can say, also your ram its little and slow, cpu is meh,

and its 7years old, served u good, time to replace the poor fella

I dont think so as I have ran antimalware a number of times

Check my first post man. I wouldn't say its safe but like cancer if detected early and you get a virus or malware etc you can just reload without the virus spreading to the other hard drive. A flash stick install of windows takes litterally less than 20 minutes and its easy compared to an antivirus or other medical malware or rootkit software blah blah. Also if the virus or other nasty gets onto the other hdd and you opted to dual boot, the effectiveness of a non widows os with tools to purge said nasty is high. Also success with antivirus tools that boot from startup is renowned for its success.
Add this to being able to do basic schit with linux like watching a video, mail, browsing, music etc the advent of a virus wont have your hands covering your ears, mouth wide open screaming NOOOOOOOO, while running in circles. You will be looking to the ceiling, mouth wide open laughing that evil MUHUHAHAHA laugh, with a personified virus dancing on your monitor while thinking " Is that all you got? 13itch!" All because of your temp solution and backup solution. Trust me. Im crazy.

If it was my PC and I was using it for web browsing, printing, emails and office.

Id format it and slap Windows XP on it.

Also 64Bit W7 with 2GB RAM

i3 is a better CPU. Celeron->Pentium->i3->i5->i7
But is it worth the extra cost for the i3 for what I will be using the pc for? Or is it worth it to either go i3 which I might be able to use longer than the pentium?

Thats what I had until microsoft ended their support for xp and I thought it was time to move to a different OS.

Its the same schit if you dont go super sayan level 4 power user on its a$$. Xp is sufficient considering.. im pretty sure you can have a modular perspective on said improvements of win 7. Then again a nike is a nike its ok yo do that. Its not like ur puting a mercedes badge on a toyota.

Who cares really?

Its for office use, no NSA stuff going on.
Oh well, whats done is done and I would prefer to keep W7 as I dont want to sit in the same type of position as I do now in 3 years time.

yes its worth to get a i3 over a lower cpu,

i5 if u can,but try to get a i3 as minimum and 4gb ram min,

spend now more, will last you maby 1-2years longer

ssd is the only solution here.

Ppl don't understand what a significant difference it makes to every single process on your computer.
Everything is faster, everything.

Imo, you can get away with a ssd when a new cpu often seems like the only option.
I don't think people realize how much a platter drive can slow a system down, especially when it's not defragged and full of **** like most home pcs.
