Is this guy totally bonkers??? Two kids in the car and he puts all their lives at risk!

Pretoria - A speeding motorist was arrested when he crashed his car in Centurion, Pretoria while allegedly trying to evade the Midrand high speed unit, Gauteng traffic police said on Sunday.

He was allegedly caught driving 189km/h in a 120km/h zone on the R21 on Saturday shortly after noon, spokesperson Busaphi Nxumalo said in a statement.

The man, a Chinese citizen, slowed his BMW335i when officers flagged him down, but then allegedly sped off.

Officers chased him through Lyttelton, where he went through a red robot in Station Street and collided with a Hyundai. The driver and passengers of the Hyundai sustained minor injuries.

The man allegedly sped off again, but soon after crashed into the pavement outside Lyttelton Manor High School, causing the airbags to deploy.

Nxumalo said officers found two toddlers in the car with the man, as well as R30 000 cash in a black plastic bag. The car displayed only a front number plate, which was found to belong to another car.

He was refused bail, and expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Then he proceeded to speed through a busy area, run a red robot, crash into another car and then lose control of his car with 2 kids inside it.

Yes. He is fscking MAD.

Yeah, unless there's an emergency, I don't see any excuse for speeding, sorry. There are racetracks for people who need to get that kind of fix.

Yup but doing 189 in a 120 zone is not as crazy as you guys make out, obviously with kids and robots and blah blah it is crazy.

Agreed.

If on a nice stretch of open road where you can see into the distance (e.g. Kenhardt to Brandvlei).

But on the busy R21 with quite heavy traffic and kids on board? That's a different matter.
 
Happy that he didn't get away. Hope he shares a sell with Buba and 40 other 'nice' guys.

70km/h over the speed limit is not at all crazy.:wtf:

I'm sorry, but if you do drive like that, you don't deserve to be on the road. Actually, you shouldn't be allowed near a car.
 
Drive on the N2 in cpt.. as soon as u pass the airport the people try and set new speed records.

We do 185 on my father's friend's Chev Cruze, from East London to Mthatha. Doesn't feel dangerous nor fast.
