Spore Gets DRM Loosening Update Soon

According to ShackNews, EA Maxis' PC everything-sim Spore will soon get an update loosening one of its copy protection limits and allowing customers to de-activate existing installations of the game. The game's three-installation limit has sparked full-blown Internet Rage for users' inability to de-activate installations in a method like Apple's iTunes. "Right now, with our solution, you can't. But there is a patch coming for that," said a nameless EA spokesperson to Multiplayer. No timeframe other than "near future" was given for the update.

Whining FTW!!!

EA keep up with this stupid DRM shyte and I promise you, the next bunch of EA games I get will be ISO copies!
 
I must admit though, it was pretty stupid to not allow 'deactivation' initially.
I do prefer the on-line authentication crap, to the 'please insert the correct disc' crap.

I can agree, It's nice not to have to insert a disc all the time, but come on... how far ahead do EA really think?

How ignorant are the DRM programmers?

Did they really really REALLY (come on...) REALLY think we were going to keep quiet?
 
Too little too late...

Although Steam has been cracked, its still a much better system than "only 3 activations" crap.
 
forgot flamesuit at home, but oh well...

i'm enjoying drm so far - much better than swapping a disc, which scratches it in a few weeks.

DRM FTW!

I think you will find EA win in the long run actually. The DRM only drew more attention to the game to begin with. Free advertising basically. Most people probably don't care about the activations. Then they wait till the sales calm down and announce they may have made a mistake with DRM and will be loosening it, so more attention and more sales from people who didn't get it originally on principle

By then millions of people will have downloaded the game "illegally"... but who gives a $h!t cos EA already thinks everyone of their customers is a criminal. Sorry EA... we win. I will not buy this game out of principle.

i wont say it isnt fun (or funny), but it doesn't have lasting appeal. its not even half the game that sims was. cutesy value is through the roof though. my younger cousins will love this

bloody hell, minesweeper has more depth than spore

Sorry, HL was just complete and utter crud... I almost bought it because of all the hype, thank god I got a iso off NH, tried, uninstalled it and deleted it 10 minutes later!

Crud man! (minesweeper comment) but I will agree, younger kids will enjoy this more than myself.

Haven't played it for 5 days yet, only played it for like 2 hours, but everytime I do play it, i laugh a bit here and go awwwwww here and there... it has its moments.
