Spore has landed...

Entered space-age over the weekend, did a few missions made a few allies bought a star system or two, tried to violently take a star system(got my ass whipped bad) how does one actually go about taking a star system with brute force? What do u have to destroy?
I've also collected a few artefacts now what do i do? Just a bit on the bored side now, do i now continue to take starsystems by placing my population on an unclaimed planet until i get to the centre of the galaxy? Thats a bit boring isnt it? What happens when i get to the centre though?

I don't really know if this is the type of game I'll play alot... It's not really my type of game but I'll give it a few goes and such, otherwise, it might just end up on my shelf.

Im Loving it!!

The Artifacts you Collect, The Badges, The Upgrades and Achievements (I got Speedfreak!! - can You?)

O can one set the difficulty in your current game? Or do i have to start a new game if i say want to play the space age in easy. Its sorta hard on normal and i'm not a hardcore gamer(dont want to die and start over again)

AFAIK yes.

click on a new planet on the menu and select space stage.
BUT - I think you lose out on abilities as you havent built them up from the cell stage thru to space stage....

Remember, every thing you do has a consequence in spore, and you get abilites depending on what path you chose through each stage.

I have to admit i'm bored with this game and i'm not one of those ppl who just dont "get" the game, i totally "get" it its just so limited now. Multiplayer like maybe Freelancer would help i think, but thats never gonna happen :(
For the record i bought the game on thursday i think... it's monday now! I didnt play on saterday i went to the beach so thats about 3days of casual gameplay of like 2-3hours a session, o dear i think i've wasted R350!

My problem is with the space stage! The others were sort enough not to bother me they went by so quickly there was no chance of getting bored.. click here click there and its over.

At the space stage now, i've allied a few nations, established trade routes, bought some systems... I've done a few missions, zap this, zap that. I've tried to demolish a nation and take their planets was 2 hard to do.
I've gone hunting for relics.

Now what else do i do? Do i just keep putting down my towncentre on every new system i travel 2? thats boring:(

I finally got around playing in space properly yesterday and well, I'm not gonna do stupid replant this planet or kill off some infected animal for all the species I meet. They can do it themselfs :P Guess you gotta make your own fun as Will said in one interview, like create a few races and start taking over space with 'em. I was thinking of making a Borg race and go kill off everything I meet. Since I got bored with space quickly, can someone tell me, can you get all the weapon upgrades, etc without completing your homeworld missions?

I think this game is perfect for some and not so much for other. I have a friend who I think will really enjoy space. He is the kinda guy who can do pointless missions for NPCs in a single player game and try to take over everything through slow boring diplomacy :P I rather player an MMORPG and do pointless missions for NPCs and XP to evolve my character :)

The Space Stage would be awesome if it was real multiplayer, even if just turn based. You know, like some of those browser based space games, you log in, give some commands, and wait for the turn to complete (maybe every other hour). The galaxy, systems, planets, everything is pretty darn cool. As I was flying around I actually wish I had access to the source for all of this :D. Really awesome technogy from a developer point.

Dude, i saw another one of your creatures, but a HUGE one - it was called an "Epic Yelk" and not just a "Yelk"
ok - i have no idea where SOL is and i have no clue how far we are from each other cause the map has no NSEW

Haha, epics are cool. I think i saw some of yours too and in creature stage I run !!! I actually took one down last night in creature stage, can't remember who's creature it was or what it was.

Have a look at the screenshot I posted and the one you posted. You will notice the galaxies are the same, just look at the arms. I rotated mine so that it is similar to yours. So "nort" on yours at the top is north on mine ;)

To find SOL. Look for a very short fat arm. Basically, the arms length is as long as the point it "breaks" for the fist time. On the shot you posted that will be the arm on the "south" of the core. Now count two arms to the right and you find the one SOL is in ;) That would be the one directly "north" on your screenshot, also short but not so fat as the previous one. SOL will be in the area directly after the break in that arm. In your screenshot you got two systems in that arm. SOL will be to the left of that system somewhere. In my screenshot I got 4 systems in that arm.

Btw, I dont think your limited to 7 systems. I created a creature on a new system last night and a new one poped up. Another "new game" system joined the set of 3 that I had in my previous screenshot. And on my screenshot I allready got 9 systems ;)

That race you met at the core is prolly friends with the grox (is that the name), or it where them? Something to do with the main missions. Remember when you discovered the destroyed city in the first missions? It was them, as the security bots refered to them while they attacked you. Guess there is a little story line to discover maybe.

So i almost got to the centre (42) but some space fedaration blew my buddy up and then me as well! wtf am I supposed to upgrade a bit more first or what - how does one travel so far AND survive? eish...
If you think getting to the centre is hard.. try getting out of it :)

What I did was stock up on colonies, animals, and AOE repairs kits. Now try push in towards the center. Whn you click on a planet, you will see you will be attacked by aliens from most of the surrounding planets. I used this as an indication of which planets you could actually travel to when your "circle" around your ship gets smaller. If they can fly to you.. you can fly to them. Watch your health of your ship and your allies. When it gets low. Try spot a star that didn't have alien ships coming from. Dive down, and quickly AOE heal. Now drop a colony, and fix its eco system to T2. You can now repair here, and also buy another colony if your out, and another AOE kit.

Zoom out, and push forward again. When you get there, its the reverse process which is just as hard.

how does one actually go about taking a star system with brute force? What do u have to destroy?
Attack the cities. basically drop bombs on them until they surrender. You will see a white flag come up in the middle of the city. Then move to the next one. When you have them all, A "capture system" button should appear on the top of the screen

getting back is hard? - just die and let them build you a new one?

serious gamer with a girlfriend?
hahaha

ROFLMAO!!! xD
hahaha

nice one :P

This game is absolutely awesome! But beware, it's very addictive!! I'm writing matric prelims atm but because of this game I havent studied as expected :P

I've been a rather full blown gamer for over 4 years and I love this game. Anyone who loves being creative should definitely try this one out :)

Addictive: +1

I think it's so adorable!
I feel like if someone saw me playing it, they'd look away in disgust but damn it's just so cool!
