I definitely won't ever skimp on cheap tyres, and firmly believe in quality ones as they are our connection to the road!

But after getting the Q7 (my 4th car and also German) and seeing I needed to replace the whole set, with tyres at +-R6k each for good ones, I see no problem in trying used quality tyres since I've found a trustworthy supplier. With 80% tread remaining, it's a no-brainer to me that they're worth a try.

From the photos, nothing wrong with theses.

I've also bought 2nd hand tyres, only from a reputable shop.

Sometimes people buy a new car and don't like the road noise, so they put other tyres on. You can then score almost brand new tyres for a bargain - nothing wrong with that.

Those look like hybrid winter tyres?

Often supplied on new vehicles because that’s the only tyre car manufacturers can use to sell into either hot or cold countries. People in Sa typically chuck them when buying a new vehicle and fit normal tyres, aka summer tyres which is all we use in South Africa because it never gets particularly cold.

'Ultra High Performance All Season'.

Hopefully they're OK! Don't mind if they're not as good as the current Goodyear Eagle F1 SUVs, which have about 1 - 2mm tread but which is really cut up.

Just glad to have more rubber on the road, and being Contis they should be fine. Will report back after they're fitted later.

Oh, added bonus if they provide better grip off-road than the Goodyears.
 
That is a great price if they are 100% OK and have 80% life left ;) Unfortunately, like my Touareg, 21" low profile tyres are not cheap for proper ones, my current Hankook's will need to be replaced soon and I am looking at R4k - R6k per tyre.

Thanks bud. Yip that's why I've gone 45 profile instead of stock 40. More comfort and cheaper.

Welcome to PM me for cheap Goodyears if in Cape Town. Have found them R1k cheaper than the usual fitment centres. :)

Yeah but I wanted a fast one. V8 TDI Q7/Touareg or SQ5 BiTDI... But only too happy with the V6 Q7 and still room for improvement with a tune!

Oh yes it is, even LG C1 65"... And maybe even .the LG C1 83"!

Boot is massive with the rear seats down. And it's cool having 7 of them for transporting the tribe and friends.

Thanks, in Jhb so I'll be shopping around but know where to head first for some good pricing but still not looking forward to it, expensive exercise.

It's basically a Touareg and he bought it with the most reliable engine so unless it is a dud he should be fine with regular care and maintenance. Sure, parts can be expensive, Pagid brake discs and pads all round are now over R10k from Goldwagen for example. I can't remember if @capd went for one with air, they can be an issue in high mileage cars and are expensive to replace.

wahaha , so true.When i went to the tyre place many years ago for my "monster" 1.4 opel corsa , the guy tried to sell me chinese tyres.He re-assured me that they were safe and plenty of people with performance bmws etc use these tyres.

How many km's did you get on them?

When you buy a new Porsche they come with N-rated tires. Some special rating for all porches. Utter BS if you ask me. Kept buying tires from the Porsche dealership till the warrantee and motor plan ran out. There after I fitted a set at tiger wheel on my old Cayenne. The new one still has N-rated tires on.

I'm sure they would use the tires on your Porsche as a reason for some fault if they are not N-rated. They even informed me with every service that my last set on my old Cayenne was not N-rated. I just said yes and?

Yeah some guy trying import and fit it themself etc, they dont seem to last :(

Then also compressor that seems like to fail also at about sametime.

I need go fix my boot lock(randomly failed 2 weeks after accident) and my parking sensors and cameras does not engage just makes some peeps and goes off, hopefully wont be too much :(
