where can we buy it?

I don't think you can buy it out right, I think it's only available on a contract basis.

Very nice idea but the hardware seems a bit flimsy for outdoor use.

I think it was designed for mainly inside use, I would agree that it does look a little flimsy for outdoor use

Despite the fact that I find these spam posts highly annoying, it is even more annoyning when price tables are unreadable.

My apologies Moederloos

It was requested on a previous forum, a forum member saw something in the Beeld about a Webcam type of thing and I advised that it must be SPOT and advised that I would post more info about it.

Would you like me to try and make the price tables more readable please advise?

What I would do is call the service centre before hand and just enquire before going through

Moederloos,

I asked MTN DD for this info. I don't see anything wrong with that. It's what this forum is about. Please go to "MTN 3G Coverage Map" thread to see my request.

MTN DD,

sorry for putting you on the SPOT like this :-)

Actually, this forum is NOT for posting advertisements - which is what the first post is. Plain and simple.

If it was a response to your request, it should have been done in that thread and not in a new thread.

If it is a response to a PM, then a PM response by MTN would have been in order.

If MTN want to advertise, I am sure RPM can give them the banner ad. prices.

MTN DD (and thus MTN) is providing a service at no cost to us here. If they get some mileage from this site by posting info in this way - inside the MTN forum - I see no problem with that. If MTN DD did it in a Vodacom forum (or one of the other forums) it would have been wrong - but this is about MTN.

And MTN DD did it in response to a request - and he started the new thread because it was a new topic relevant to MTN's services. If he did so under the original thread it would have been lost to many interested parties who had no interest in the "MTN 3G coverage map" issue where I posted my original request.

This is boring me now. It is quiet clearly not acceptable to post sales junk here. The post was not even an attempt at a discussion, but a copy and paste of an advertisement. Surely MTN has the money to pay for advertising?

On this topic, you can see the post by IC in the DOT computers thread:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=567172#post567172

which deals with this.

I've removed the Post,

I do apologize

I have a couple of questions, How is the camera armed and disarmed ? When are notified by sms that the camera has picked up something are you charged for the sms that is sent ? Is each additional camera an additional contract or can they be linked to operate off one Sim card ?
thanks !

Geez, you get scared quickly! There's always somebody who feels they have to decide for everybody else on what's appropriate or not, if it is "boring" then don't read the freaking post.

MTNDD, don't worry about it, I appreciated the post about SPOT as it was something I was actually looking for - too bad it is so flimsy.

Hi

What happens is the camera is activated by RSS and the sim is activated by mtn. You can activated the camera in 2 ways: log on to camera via your handset and video streaming is then sent to your handset (you pay for that)
Set the camera up as a motion detection device on the camera itself. An sms will be sent to you if it was activated. You can the choose whether to log on to the camera and receive video streaming or not. I don’t know who pays for that sms, but will find out

No still pictures are sent and Yes, additional camera, additional contract. Works exactly like add sim.

Thanks MTN DD
