Springbok Team Announced

I would rather have a team gel against a team like Wales than get hammered against the All Blacks first run out.

So are you suggesting then that France, England, New Zealand and Australia are the only teams we should accept then?

When Wales is unable to field their best team is unfair for those paying high ticket prices.

Look this Welsh side is certainly not at full strength but then neither was SA. It was however a reasonably composed and technically accurate performance by the Boks which is significant considering the number of new combination's that PDV tried.

He bloodied some new talent in the form of Bekker (who was outstanding in the lineouts and at 2.08m so he should be) and Brian Mujati who was visibly emotional after making his debut. That kid has passion/hunger and that could take him places!!

I thought the lose trio worked well too with Luke having a very tidy game and Pierre is regaining some of the form that made him so highly rated last season.

The scrums were controlled as was the tight lose again despite a new front row and new lock pairing.

Bolla was efficient at 9 and Butch flawless with 9/9 kicks at polls, what more can we ask of him??

I thought Adrian was scintillating. His form has been the best kept secret this season. There is no doubt in my mind the Sharks would have been better served playing him through out the Super 14.

Conrad at 15 showed his finesse and vindicated PDV decision to select him. Percy is still SA's no 1 fullback but he's getting old and it's time to blood new talent and reintroduce in form players into the squad as cover.

What was disappointing was the lack of ball that our 2 wingers got in space. As Wales showed a pacy wing in space is a sight to behold, it's also a try scoring opportunity everytime.

In closing that this Welsh side was under strength is a given but like in cricket you still have to put the bad balls away and the Boks did.

Wales played as well as we allowed them.

It's a good start to the test season but it only gets harder from here. Good luck to the boys!!

Most rugby playing nations seldom field their best side. You do realize in the world cup we never ever fielded our strongest side with Pierre not making the touring squad and then of the players who did go we only fielded our strongest team for 30 minutes and then Jean came home with a torn bicep. Injuries are a part of the game which is totally unavoidable. Wales came to SA with their strongest possible squad.

Hmmm guess you will need to ask the guys who paid...I didn't see many unhappy faces at the stadium from the coverage.....did you?

Maybe they should halve ticket prices, the first half was dismal :D

19 - 10 down......not too bad considering how dismal they were ;)

Jeez, didn't you notice the handling errors? Wales could barely put a phase together. Did you watch? Cos quality of the game is never reflected in the score.

I know you are a football fan and for this reason I cannot fathom how you can call even one minute of rugby boring as soccer has that emotion tapped! But this is test rugby, the idea is to grind down the opposition, to wear them out and to get enough points on the scoreboard to secure the win and then let loose. It is what makes rugby the game it is.

Dismal is clearly a major exaggeration too....

Personally I wouldn't pay to watch Wales. TV coverage is more than good enough!! However Tri-nation matches are a different story. I've often paid upwards of R300 to go watch the Boks at the park against NZ, OZ and Lions in 97...

Yes I watched, I agree it was a disappointing game...if that is your only point...we agree.

I concur 100% as unpopular as this sentiment may be!!!:D

I find that rugby is 10x more exciting than soccer so we would appear to be in agreement. BUT handling errors are not accepted as quality rugby.

Seeing as we are all heading towards agreement, I too concur with this. You are only ever allowed to play as well as your opposition allows you. If there were no Springboks on the field, Wales would in all likelihood have had zero handling errors... the defence causes errors...

No wonder it is peeing with rain in Durban in June! :D

lol, that explains it :D

Yep, Wales were really poor. Not trying to say that is our fault or anything. We played well but Wales were poor and likely the result of missing key players. They certainly didn't look like 6n champions.

All I can say after saturdays game is : SPIES YOU BEAUT!!!!!!!!!

That man is a freight train!!

But alot of players pleasantly surprised me, one of them was guthro. Sir mr guthro sir, I humbly apologise for not seeing your talent. He really did have a great game, and is really fast for such a big guy.

Jacobs also played extremely well, tough fella that one.

Conrad jantjies played an amazing game, but seriously he needs to bulk up, he is way to thin and lacks the power to stop anyone (great example is the way the one welsh player kept him at bay as he tried to tackle him).

I love the new tactic Div brough to the game, especially in the tackling/defense strategy.

With luke watson..meh. I'm sorry but this guy remains a mediocre player, nothing on saturday actually showed me that he belonged there, hope he surprises me, but so far IMHO he is a zero on a contract

Oh yes, and I love all the new players, it shows that we have some great talent out there, and each and everyone of them deserved to be there

If the politicians have their way he will be captain.

Hope Schalk gets better soon.

Well Well Well.

Looks like I owe someone some Cyber beers :D

Look they did do alot better than I thought they would ;). Question is, what would the score have been if we had the right players . I have to also add that Wales Failed in all areas. And it was not because of how we played.

But tbh I like the new type of rugby PDV had brought to the game. To me it's not about which colour plays where. It's the best 15 men for the job that must play.

Luke = Epic Fail
Zim dude = Epic fail
Bolla = Epic fail

And wtf happened with Percy coming on the field at Centre

I still feel that there is better players in some of the positions than those that where on the field. The true test will come when we play the Tri-Nations.

I hope PDV selects the strongest team then, I'm all for he's new guys tactic. But pls don't let that Clog he's judgement when it comes to playing Australia and NZ .

Maybe that is why he just does not do it for me, Schalk is THE player (after Mr Spies of course), and he is involved in every facet of the game for the full 80 minutes, no matter hwere the ball is, you can trust that Schalk will be there
