Springboks vs Argentina.

Wait, I reckon some injury stats are still coming ... Jacobs didn't look happy at one stage, Botha left early, sure there was someone else

Jacobs looked like cramp. Botha not sure.

An injury for one means an opportunity for another. I thought it was good that Andries Bekker got a run. We need other locks to get game time. Victor and Bakkies cannot always be around and fit.

I think its mostly Fourie, a fractured cheekbone.

He must have the worse luck. First game back, one run with the ball, and off he goes again.

Who would you leave out for Fourie going forward anyway? As stated above it is great to have lots of back up but we have Jean and Adrian. Then of course we have Frans who was dropped to allow space for Fourie on the bench. He will get a look back in now, so (with all respect to Fourie) it may not be too bad...

It's all well and good to say "Ag, we have backup" to the injuries but we have 3 tougher than tough matches coming up and I would hate it if suddenly we were spread thin because we just had to have a useless romp against Argentina when the guys should have been resting a bit more.

not sure it should be called a useless romp. only last year after the world cup we were saying it would be good to include argentina in the tri-nations to make it a quad-nations. and surely bedding down a new coach's system in match conditions is worth more than the boys relaxing at home?

Useless? Interesting. Firstly, it was part of the celebrations for Mandela's 90th year. Now you may not think this is a decent cause but then you may also have missed the R2,000,000 cheque that got handed to the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund before the game. I think you will find the beneficiaries of that will appreciate the effort made by the Boks. There are aspects of the "real world" that rugby players need to play their part in, and this is one.

Secondly, do you think Argentina regarded this as a useless romp? Do you think those players travelled to SA reluctantly? Again spreading the game further and making it stronger is sensible in the long term. Short term it may not make sense to you but it is in the best interests of the game. Contemponi even admitted after the match that even though they lost badly a game against the best in the world is invaluable for their advancement.

And finally, ask any coach whether he would rather have his players playing a real game or running around on the practice field and see what answer you get. Wrapping your players in cotton wool is a wonderful notion but it does not work in the real world. Players need to be game hardened.

Your disrespect astounds me..... and your one sentence post to a reasonable response to your query makes me wonder if you are merely trying to see how many threads you can randomly respond to again.

EDIT : But I am glad to hear you are celebrating your day. It is only right that you do!

pffft ..... where is there disrespect? Madiba is one of the greatest men to have ever lived in my opinion ... I couldn't disrespect him if I tried, so kindly take that little snarky comment of yours back and choke on it ok

You are schizophrenic!!

Ok ....... it's Womens Day today right .... is it still Madiba's b-day? Way too much attention on Madiba, why not go with Womens Day and highlight it even further.

You may note, if you were less hasty in your responses, that I made no reference to Mandela's birthday. The term I used was that it was part of the "celebrations for Mandela's 90th year".

tbf i consider myself to be fairly pro SA but can't see where the disrespect is in saying why not make it about Women's Day?

You both choose to only take snippets from a post when compiling your responses. This was the full post...

...and this was in response to me stating that the event was part of the 90th year celebrations and also an opportunity to hand over R2,000,000 to his fund. He then followed this up by saying...

Ok ....... it's Womens Day today right .... is it still Madiba's b-day? Way too much attention on Madiba, why not go with Womens Day and highlight it even further.

Mephisto may try to be subtle with his comments but it does not take a genius to see his real feelings. Besides if he applied the slightest bit of thought to his statement he will note that an entire day has been dedicated to women. A rugby match was "dedicated" to Mandela.

maybe you read too much into things?

Isn't that what we all do. If I responded and said "p_ss" only. Would you assume I was insulting you, talking about a cat or being sexual? You would have to guess in this instance but in other cases you form your interpretation based on any other words I posted along with that one. We do this all the time. If the poster does not want this to happen they need to be more concise. In this case he was deliberately vague as he is fully aware his true thoughts on the matter would not go down well with a lot of people.

to get you right, you are saying he doesn't care for mandela?
