Spur Incident

Only one of them threatened and committed physical violence, how is the punishment not equal?
I'm assuming you're talking about the man. How did he threaten and commit physical violence. Taking a child on the arm and asking if she would like it if he slapped her child is an idiot move but it's not a threat to commit violence and it's not assault as some have claimed. They both acted like less than stellar parents so why only ban one of them?

How old was the boy doing the slapping? Apparently he was 8 or 9y old while the little girl was 5 ! Can someone confirm the age of the boy? For whatever reason, it seems to be a closely guarded secret.
Good question. Firstly it's two girls based on the witnesses' accounts. Funny these witnesses are now good enough to confirm this. Secondly there were multiple children at the table and the one he took by the arm is apparently not the one who did the bullying. Not that it really matters. I know someone who as a 4 year old was already as big as a 10 year old. It's foolish to say these are just children being children. People don't realise how it escalates and no bully started of as a bully but as a kid who didn't get the needed discipline. Sadly these parents don't look like the responsible adults that can provide it. The thing that's really wrong in this country.

Where's the full video of him approaching the table? Why are we only being shown half the video?

Asking if someone wants a "****klap" is not a threat, really?

Very ironic. Same people who wont see reason in this thread and are defending this Neanderthal despite all the evidence against him, are the same people who in the Zuma-Gordhan thread are making comments about "idiots who still vote ANC". Cannot see your own brand-blindness, yet love to point out others.

Well said. Their unwillingness to view an incident objectively is the same blind, short sighted stupidity they are so frustrated with when dealing with others!

The irony, it's just too delicious!

Not just race but also sex. If it had been two white males everyone would have been in agreement that they both acted like buffoons.

Indeed it does. To say it for the ****ing umpteenth time now, it's not our narrative but eye witness accounts. There was also no physical assault on the 50 second soundless video you saw and any magistrate would agree. Open your bloody mind to the facts.

Bias? Roflol. How do you ****ing know it's his friends? Did you interview all of them? Does he have black friends? Would a black friend defend him if he really did just go up to a black woman and "assaulted" her? Stop making up facts.

At least mine still has some room to grow.

They BOTH dug their own holes. Unfortunately the punishment is yet again not equal.

The issue here is absolving a women who reacted like a maniac when approached in a calm manner from all blame. Where is this supposed hard video evidence showing otherwise? There is none as Spur has decided not to release it. Now we're even at the point of making up kids crying at the table. Way to go white knight.

No, that's what you choose to see, because you are the one who wants it to be about race and sex. And I'm the one who's making it about sex? So this wasn't said?

You're fooling yourself if you believe any of that.

Aaaaa you :crylaugh: you keep embellishing this story. Can you please provide a link to this supposed black friend who has defended Nico which somehow in your mind equates to him being less guilty of assault.

I'm assuming you are a man that you can't see how threatening he was - but -

1/ language and tone was aggressive and threatening

2/ he used his size to intimidate by leaning in over the table

3/ wagging his finger to intimidate

4/ raising his voice

5/ sharp, violent movements - like when he turned back, he lunged rather than turned

6/ grabbing the child - laying hands on anyone in an aggressive manner is physical abuse/violence

7/ shaking the table

8/ issuing threats

Then there were the inherent aspects - his size, his age, the fact he was man, the fact he was White and Afrikaans. All of these contribute to the perceived level of threat from him.

If you want to see just how threatening he was - go back and watch the video again, and when he lunges across the table to shake his finger in the mother's face, watch the reaction of the child next to her - as he lunges the child flings his/herself backwards and cowers against the mother. Right there you can see how violent and threatening his actions were.

Here it starts just before he lunges forward across the top of the kids: WATCH THE CHILD!

I watched the video without sound for the first time and immediately noticed a few things I missed before. You notice how much more aggressive he appears and that little girl who cowered was wiping away tears and notice how the mother puts herself between him and the child. Makes me feel like crying. Anyone who watches that and still feels nothing is not human.

Don't you have better thing to do? I mean really wtf?

I agree. This guy behaved like a pig. I do not agree with the part I highlighted though. What exactly do you mean by that?

A man...a MAN, as though that is not enough?! And not only white, but also Afrikaans ffs! Threat level: overdrive.

You boertjies sure have a rep with the ladies it seems.

Ah Quin: beat me to it.

Let's see if we can't get this thread to 250 pages before the coming weekend.
Is the white man's fault - there is my contribution - now prove me wrong :D

Man in Spur row nowhere to be found

As the hunt intensifies for the man seen shouting at, and threatening to assault, a woman at a Spur in Johannesburg's The Glen shopping centre, his home town of Rustenburg, in North West, has closed ranks.
For two days residents of the town responded with closed doors and suspicion to efforts to track down the man in the video, who has been identified as Nico Viljoen.

They remained that way despite assurances that his whereabouts would not be divulged because of threats on social media.

The only details unearthed were where his girlfriend works and that he was a car salesman at a dealership in early 2015 in Rustenburg. Other than that, no one was going to tell anyone anything.

There was a "no comment" from a receptionist at the medical practice where Viljoen's girlfriend is believed to work. His cellphone number did come to light eventually but that was a non-starter because it remained unanswered.
