Not one to be ordering Steak from restaurants, seeing as I come from free range beef country, but seeing as I was in the heart of North West beef country, I ordered a 500g lazy aged steak at the local Spur...

Holy crap! WTF excuse for a piece of vleis was this?

First time in my life that I do not eat the entire steak.... The taste, what on earth flavour meat is that? I for one shall never be eating steak in a Spur again..

/Moose rant over....

I live in the bush boet! Going to Spur is meant to be an outing for our type.... Oh! Politics aside, i see all the farmers that use to frequent the Spur in Vryburg have been replaced by previously disadvantaged patrons.....

You said yourself "I come from free range beef country".

I'm being 100% apolitical when I say Spur food sucks. One of my kids received their annual birthday coupon and no one wanted to redeem it, including the kids.

Steak from the Spur in Bedford Centre used to be the best anywhere. Always liked Spur: burgers, steaks, chips, the pink sauce. Nom!

Went back for the first time in over 2 years recently (I live in the UK), and was surprised at how much more it costs now, even when paying in £.

You mean ketchup and mayonnaise?

Spur food is a travesty and has been for many many years. It is literally inedible. People that frequent the Spur and think it's food is good, must seriously be mentally retarded.

Only thing I like at Spur and the only thing I've eaten there in the last few years has been their crumbed mushrooms. It's a weakness, I know

The last time I remember having a good steak was when the wooden menu boards were still around, and you could order the self cooking option. Since then Spur just went rock bottom.

Use the voucher for ice cream and drinks.

Saw an old man preparing his own meal recently.

I must admit the steak I bought didn't taste anything like beef.

While i would not rate Spur 1st-class food, I've definitely had much worse..

I mean Wimpy is flavored cardboard. at least Spur tries to use some kind of meat..

I have fond memories of the cheddamelt hungabusta burger but that was probably 20 odd years ago...

The Spur doesn't serve good food. They attract people through the kids play area and discount burger/steak/rib promos.

Sounds like you are describing thousand island dressing
Thousand island also has relish, onion and garlic... another close sibling would be Russian, which has horseradish and other seasoning.

Ketchup and mayo (with/out vinegar) is generally known as Fry Sauce. Hardly unique to the Spur.
