My neighbor just came to me and said that there's a guy that visits my helper during the day.

Just wanted to get proof before confronting her ... anyone know of a cheap spy camera? Don't need the resolution to identify - I just want to see if a second body comes in.

I've seen a few at R2,500+ which are hidden in clocks ... but maybe something cheaper than that ?

If you don't come right drop me a pm and I'll see what I can do. Got loads laying around at home.

Otherwise the gadget shops will have for around 500.

Recently bought one off BidorBuy for R249 for wife's work. Somebody snooping around on her laptop while she is on lunch.

Pen version. Works pretty well.

Not great resolution but can clearly identify people and audio.

Caught culprit red handed on 5th day of setting it up.

An old android phone + Alfred home Security app can work as well...

Thanks guys.

@ rat - may be in touch shortly
@ FNfal - I do, but want the cam to get the front door specifically
@ Apoc - how is power and recording time on the pen?
@ Park - I tried with my old S3 but messy solution. Also, phone will need a charger and stand vertical. Don't want her to suspect anything

Wife gets about 3 hours recording time on the pen before needing to charge again.

She only uses it for about 40min at a time when she goes on lunch. All recorded to a 32GB Micro SD card.

So depending on when you leave and when the culprit arrives. You might run out of power before that. Certainly something to consider.

In our case this cheapie worked well because it was only activated at certain times.

If you don't find something that works you can try a raspberry pi and a microsoft hd3000 camera, running "motion". Even an old laptop left open running motion ( potentially in a VM as it needs linux?) using its webcam if its a normal thing that's left around the house so they wouldn't suspect anything.

I have the rpi + webcam combo running as a security cam at home. It only takes photos when it picks up movement.

RatMan, im also looking for something small like this. Recently had some things stolen off my desk at work overnight, so anybody know where to get a spy pen to pop say into my pen holder thats on my desk?

Unless they steal your spy pen, lol

This almost seems ideal

Want to try find it at a brick and mortar shop though
Got one it's terrible. There is one build into an alarm clock thats better.

Had one built into a coat hanger but looked too obvious.

I can second what theratman said. I have the both models, the analogue clock, and the digital clock, and I ended up using the digital version. The analogue one is sitting in a drawer - I can't even recall if I got it working at all.
