Hi Guys,
not sure if I asking in the right forum, but here goes,
we have a spycerbox something similar to this,
(apparently its quite common in the media/TV production environment)
https://www.rohde-schwarz.com/us/product/sbx-ultra-productstartpage_63493-251200.html
and one of the odd things I have to do, is from time to time when requested,
I need to manually add permissions to the machine so people using macbooks can read/write to it.
using a command on the macbooks such as this:
nfs://******/media/spycerbox
to do this, and it seems very odd, is I have to putty into the server, and manually edit a file in VI
and I have to check or add a line, and then export the configuration, in order for this particular person to access the spycerbox,
and be able to read and write to it in the correct speed.
Im a bit unclear about this, why does it have to be done this way?
and isnt there a easier way to do such a operation? isnt their a front end one can do this?
or a configuration program one can use? why does it have to be done in such a way?
or is it due to its design one is required to edit a file in order to get access?
really afraid to experiment too much, but I thought id ask around if anybody here worked on such a device, and
how they handled setting permissions on such a device. is this a standard feature? and I need to make myself comfortable with it?
