Is anyone else experiecing problems with HTTPS and SSH? I cannot use it anymore, this includes internet banking, Discoveryworld, and PUTTY to SSH into my boxes over the net.

Anyone else experiencing similair problems?

I sent WBS the following e-mail:

Good day tech support,

I cannot access any HTTPS sites or use SSH anymore. It is incredibly slow if working at all. If you throttling these ports then STOP IT IMMEDIATELY.

This is not good pratice. This means that internet banking. Discoveryworld amongs others don't work.

Including my SSH, which now does not allow me SSH correctly into my machines across the internet.

If you are throttling these ports then tell me now, cause quite frankly you can then take your iBurst connection and shove it.

Best Regards

I have same problem. Basically if its not HTTP, then it dont work correctly. Secure mail, IRC, MSN, SSH, Putty all the same. I need all this for work. I don't mind it at 64k, but its much less than that now.

no codemasterhti 64k is not acceptible, these are genuine servies that are used for work and such. They are not used to abuse the iburst network like torrents etc. These should work at full speed with out shaping end of story.

agh! I consider international ADSL traffic effectively cut-off after capping. 64kbps IS acceptable to me, as this was known from the start. It's the 24/7 online thing that doesn't cost more and that I like. There is *no alternative*. ISDN is pay per minute. 56k dialup is pay per minute. Sentech is just Sentech.

However, I notice that these 'work services' (HTTPS, SSH, etc) cannot be used for work - not because of the 64k, but because WBS is either shaping it or somehow screwing it up.

No SSH/HTTPS issues here, locally or internationally (I use ssh to servers in SA and the USA, and https in SA & the UK, daily).

Ciao

Well Same Issue you here aswell, Took me time to connect to the WBS network the whole night, it was like down for 1 hour, I've problems with HTTP, SSH, IRC, MSN everything is ping out for me & I've loads of bandwidth availble, Does WBS, want us to purchase more bandwidth so they can cover for there losses, cause really this is ticking me off b4 it was LAUNCH everything was working nice then when its Launch Stuff start to Break.

What are WBS, doing you e-mail them and they don't even send you response, they should just have system where you call in to tell you these problems, so the helpdesk people are under no Stress, phoned yesterday Night a guy, he sounded like he was going to sleep on the phone, Didn't want to answer my questions I had about this bandwidth suspension and other problems disconnected, who knows someone at WBS who can actually help and will do there job.

i am having problems with those protocols plus because SFTP uses SSH i can't use that either

https problems

Guys,

I'm running a clarkconnect linux mailserver to share my Iburst connection between multiple pc's. I'm having problems with https and pop3 secure. Even the server is sometimes having a hard time to update dynamic dns. Is there anything i could tweak on the NAT routing? I've set my mtu to 1350, is that ok? I've already thrown out my transparent proxy wich seems to be unstable. I also find it very difficult to use citrix via Iburst, it works for about 10 seconds up to a few minutes whereafter i have to end task the citrix client and reconnect to my existing session, quite frustrating....
Is this due to packet loss?

Thanks

Must be the bandwidth hogs stealing all the SSH and HTTPS traffic.

Oh wait. That doesn't compute.

Must be WBS's incompetency showing up again.

Bulldog, I had that exact same problem around mid-march. Dont even bother asking the helpdesk for the solution as they dont know or care about it. Trust me I tried for a week to get some help from them. I did find a workaround for this problem though which I believe is caused by WBS's **** network management. What you need to do is, set the mtu on you ppp0 interface to 1352 or whatever works for you (I find I have to change every now and then to keep a good connection) and then set the same mtu on your gateway interface, and finally set all your clients to the same mtu as well. HTTPS should then work, IRC wont lag as much and you might even be able to connect to MSN. SSH should also be better and your session should last more than 5 seconds.

well hope this helps.

Hi there,

I phoned the helpdesk again, to inform them of this issue again, and the first question I got asked was, "Do you have nortons", so I told her to shut up, and put me through to Dylan.

Got thorough Dylan, and spoke to him, apparently they are aware of the SSL and SSH issue, and their technical guy is currently working on the issue.

R100 bucks says it doesnt get resolved today!!!
