Stage 1 load shedding hits

Just remember the use of heaters are unnecessary

Indeed... why sit in warmth and comfort when you can sit in the cold and shiver your arse off.

Edit: To be honest though, I'm done with sitting 'conserving' energy. Last few years I've not used a heater, this winter though, its going on. I can turn everything in the house off to 'assist' with reducing the load but I still get 4.5hours load shedding. So screw it, if power is on, I'll use it, heater and all. Either way I get to sit in the dark, but one way I'll be a little warmer.

Ours says no load shedding, yet load shedding has started from 2PM lol

Except if it was prior to 4pm and not according to schedule, then its no load shedding.. have you reported the fault to your provider yet?

If everyone had that attitude, there would be more power cuts.

Besides, electricity is too expensive for me to waste on space heating. I would rather be a little more efficient and use a hot water bottle and a sleeping bag.

Its like the whole of Midrand thats out..

So, did you bother contacting your power provider to at least report a fault, or listen to the list of faults.

Don't get me wrong, I hate not having power as much as the next person, but just automatically ASSUMING its load shedding doesn't help fix potential issues with the distribution network.

Of currently till 18:30. Going to buy that generator after all. Wanted to work now nothing. Baastids!

I am on holiday and we are being loadshed at 20:00, seems I will have to braai again.

Nope. Yeah its an assumption. Will log a fault. Thanks.

Who used heaters this past easter weekend? I only moved to sleeping under a blanket. Was colder than usual, but the blanket was enough for me.
In anycase, I don't own a heater anymore, been doing fine without one for several years.

Indeed, what I'm saying though is there is no way we aren't going to have stage 2-3 load shedding almost every day this winter. Unit 6 won't be running at full, even if it is, over and above that, they still need to find another 5k+ MW... its not going to happen. Whether you use heaters or not this winter, you will have stage 3. Even if no one uses heaters in the country, you'll have stage 3. There is no margin, so just lights going on earlier and burning longer is going to push stage 3. No matter how much we save/use, we will have stage 3.

Until they invent stage 4...:o.

It does make a difference though. If you have 1000 000 people (about 2% of SA's population) using 1500 W space heaters. It will be about 1500 MW. That could be the difference between stage 2 and stage 3.
