Stage 2 predicted for 3 December 2018

Difficult scheduling work when one has no idea when power will go out in CPT, can't figure out where to look for accurate loadshedding stages.

It took you 4 years to pass 50 posts and then you don't say anything relevant to the topic anyways. XD

Uhh, I was unable to post up until A FEW MINUTES AGO. The 'embargo' was lifted it seems.

You reached 50 posts, that was what was stopping you from posting...

NOPE, I reached 55 posts months ago and I still wasn't allowed to post and so I just gave up. I thought I would try again though, and now FINALLY I can, as of a few minutes ago.

No updates on City of Cape Town page yet: http://www.capetown.gov.za/Family a...lectricity-services/load-shedding-and-outages

Assuming the same pattern as the weekend (Stage 2 Eskom, Stage 1 CoCT) the schedule today (Mon 3rd) will be:
08h00 to 10h30 Zone 13 Goodwood/Pattekloof
10h00 to 12h30 Zone 14 Melkbos/Atlantis
12h00 to 14h30 Zone 15 Observtory, etc
14h00 to 16h30 Zone 16 Ottery/Strandfontein
16h00 to 18h30 Zone 1 Bellville
18h00 to 20h30 Zone 2 Maitland/Milnerton
20h00 to 22h30 Zone 3 Strand/Somerset West

Eskom are now making **** up.

Please be advised that @Eskom_SA will implement load shedding stage 2 from 09:00 until 22:00 AND load curtailment stage 2 from 9:00 to 22:00. We apologise for the inconvenience @CityPowerJhb @eNCA @SABCNewsOnline @IOL @News24

What the **** is load curtailment and how is it different to load shedding?

load curtailment is just like load shedding but it has flowers up it's arse :-)

I read somewhere yesterday that Soweto has not had a single power outage during load shedding since implemented last week. Can anyone confirm his?

I would beyond fscking strip my moer if I had that 5 days a week....
It happens to some or even better when they change between stage 1 and 2. Example stage 1 will on average see joburg persons affected up to 3 times in 1 week. Sooo.
Lets say you have Stage 1 Sat morning 0800-1230.
And then at 1300 they announce stage 2 effective and guess what?!? You get smacked again by stage 2 1600-2030.
Sun stage 2 catches you from 1200-1630.
Mon stage 1 0400-0830, then stage 2 kicks in 1200-1630....

And so on and so on... It's never fun :(

AFAIK load curtailment involves telling large industrial consumers (and mines?) that they must stop using power, and only continue with essential standby activities.

Edit: http://loadshedding.eskom.co.za/loadshedding/description

Load Curtailment. Our agreement with some of our large industrial customers means we can instruct them to reduce electricity consumption when it is urgent to balance the system. They are able to reduce their load by up to 20%, significantly easing capacity on the grid; but it takes a minimum of 2 hours to implement.

Edit: So basically they are really f*****d...

I've been using the 'load shedding notifier' app and so far it has been 100% accurate.
It still lists eskom's status as 'not load shedding'

My area has that between 4 and 5 times a week. Some days we have it twice a day, 4:00am to 8:30am and then again 8:00pm - 12:30am

Luckily no loadshedding for me today according to our schedules

If industrial consumers are being forced onto load curtailment at 9am on a Monday, things could get much worse.

Yelland said though it was not confirmed, people within Eskom appeared to be flexing their muscles and know where to switch the power utility off.
If this is true then we are in big doodoo

P.S. The CoCT only has reserves for a few hours, i.e. light consumption on weekends, unlikely to be able to provide a whole weekday, with factories working, etc.

Area 11 CPT had no loadshedding at 06.00 this am...I know because i'm a v early riser...4am usually.

Fukked up schedules, no one knows where to look and I doubt even Eskom have an official schedule that is adhered to for every town/part of the country.

Useless *****.
