Stage 3 for the evenings

Eskom will increase load-shedding to stage 3 on Wednesday evening after losing four generating units in the last 48 hours.

This is required despite the utility returning 3,200MW of capacity to service over the past two days. The need to conduct planned maintenance was also contributing to the increased power cuts.

I wonder if there is a more unreliable power company at the moment than Eskom, anywhere in the world ?
It will be very costly to get the SA grid working reliably again.

The Zimbabwe Power Company seems to have solved their loadshedding problems with the recent commissioning of two new coal power units.

Zimbabwe uses the same amount of power as about Bloem

One of the African states only has power 12 hours a day.
It was on YouTube so it must be legit...

Eskom has many more employees and generates much more revenue so this situation should never have been allowed to develop. Attempting stopgap repairs on multiple failing power stations at the same time is a recipe for disaster. The Zimbabweans are now working on refurbishing their unreliable plants while they have sufficient capacity. Why didn't Eskom do any major refurbishments of their failing plants over the last fourteen years ?

Your Zimbabweans success story is a very bad example though, as someone has already said, their power requirement is very low and only about 50% of the population have access to electricity, rural areas are even more worse off as the bigger percentage of access is in urban areas, that is not really something to boast about.

Just say it like it is: "Die krag is genaai". Klaar. Put up a separate feed or something. It's gumming up the news.

It's amazing. It's like you've never heard of places like Haiti or North Korea.

don't get me wrong Eskom is bad, but jeepers it could be much worse.

Annoyingly my router UPS only lasts 1h:55 minutes now.
My mini UPS's make 4hours easily.

We had a vandalized Sub Station (viva twat in the hat), so we were out for 9 hours from Midnight, the UPS's on my two smaller modem router things were still working (only just), but the one on the main Router was off.

Just buy new ones, they've come down in price..

I'm wondering how the woman in the photo must feel by now every time there's load shedding.

Same here, and what makes it worse is that this schedule is still shite. I have multiple evenings with just 1.5 hours before the next session starts even on stage 2 and it seems that it's always on weekends.
What? Sounds like another CP mess up, though generally they've fixed that unless it's at midnight?

Sigh area tripped after LS, hopefully sorted soon
