Stage 4 load shedding is coming

Well tbh the only thing Eksdom needs to do is remove all those illegal connections... and enforcing it... with that alone enough power should be freed up to avoid these rolling blackouts.
 
They should also introduce stage ½

That's for times when half our total generating capacity isn't avaiable for some or other reason..

Actually, by the downwards trend that Eskom is showing I'd introduce stage 5-9 if I was them.
Seems we're going to need it soon enough.

Exactly, the current business model is so bright! We use a rotational system were those who pay get cut off (thereby no revenue coming in) just as much as those who don't pay! Why don't we use a system where when loadshedding is needed first cut off the areas with the lowest compliance rates amongst customers when it comes to paying your bill?

At the end of the day I wonder if anyone has any figures as to amount of revenue Eskom has lost through customers not buying power from them during loadshedding.

That would be ideal, but the reality in SA is that you would then end up with a severe case of civil unrest.

That is very selfish. What are you going to do when Koeberg is down for maintenance?
 
Ag, its just semantics, Stage 4 always existed but by a different name, now it just sounds more serious as it's "stage 4" and to prevent an imminent blackout, we should all voluntarily turn our mains off.

Koeberg alone would not produce enough electricity to power the Western Cape. And every 18 months you would need to refuel one of it's two units which means only 50% output for three months. Maybe if you could annex Ankerlig as well you could perhaps power the peninsula.

What is it with Cape Town people always acting superior? When it's E-tolls you refuse to pay a national fuel levy, until they announce they want to toll the Cape highways as well. Now you say you have a nuclear power station so you shouldn't have load shedding? Most of the big power stations are in the northern provinces, so why should they have load shedding? This is one country, all the provinces share everything.
