So now there is no load shedding? When I checked the schedule for the day, Eskom reckons we are Load Shedding Free!

But the schedule says yes..
Also as I left for work the power did go off @ 5am.
Could clearly see what houses have em back-up's as the streets went dark.

Need to spread a rumour that we found large oil deposit so that USA or Russia can invade....

Hell even Ukraine would be welcome to invade as they manage to keep power running in the mid of a "Special operation" form neighbour.

Agreed no fixing Eskom, but with the DA we have an increased chance of getting competition in to fill the void. Then we can let Eskom die.
What competition? Oh you mean the monopolization of private production with the DA as forced middleman? Never gonna happen, the SA state (any ruling party) will never again supply reliable affordable electricity to SA. We should be fighting their socialist solar policy that is depressing individual solar uptake.

Quick question, I have this generator:

It runs the following type of equipment with no issues:

1. Pumps
2. Fridges
3. Microwaves etc.

My query since I have been without power and I am working from home, can I use it to run the following without damaging it:

  1. Laptop (Owned by work)
  2. Monitor (My own)

Yes most them have own power unit, its not great to run them directly on generator, but it will work.

What are the possible consequences? I dont mind taking a chance on my own equipment, but not on the work laptop.

Your power unit might pop, but low chance. Laptop chargers are not super pricey, if you want to buy a backup

A silver lining that there is a meeting with union leaders and the CEO today sometime. It could be either good or bad as the strike could escalate. Hendrina, for example, has only one boiler on load due to the strike. Camden have joined the protest as of this morning, but it seems it hasn't affected their load. Not yet anyway.
