Standard Bank MyMo

Has anyone tried Standard Bank MyMo?

If yes, please tell me about your experience and all-round feel of the bank and offering.

I am leaning towards giving Standard Bank a try as I’ve been disappointed by almost all the others. How does the MyMo offering compare to for example the TymeBank offering?

Regular Standard customer checking in. Held hostage due to home loan. Avoid them like the plague.

I've had a standard bank account for some time, and I can say I've never been disappointed by the customer service. I always felt like they're truly batting for me when I come in with an issue that needs resolution. Far better than ABSA.

That said, I'm in the process of moving to another bank (Bidvest/Old Mutual Money Account) because as good as Standard's customer service is, they're not the best fit for me in terms of fees and interest rates. If you've chosen the MyMo account, though, then you're obviously fine with those. You'll get what you pay for and good service if the branch you use are anything like the branches I used.

TymeBank's rates look attractive as well, and their collaboration with Pick 'n Pay's smart shopper programme is also a big bonus. I'd wait before using them for my primary account, though. They're relatively new and have been undergoing some operational hiccups around customer service.
