Standing Desk recommendation

I did have an issue about a week ago... The display showed "ASR" one morning. Googled the code and found this link. Followed the instructions and was back in business.
Okay, I figured out what caused this (as I did it again)...

I switch off my stuff at the multiplug when I stop working for the day/night... It just so happened that I switched it off while the desk was moving. Not my brightest moment, I know.

So yeah, sudden loss in power while in motion gives the ASR error. Following the reset instruction get its working again, no issue.

Hello All

is TekDesk 2.0 still the best standing desk and the way to go or is there something better available?

I don't know about better, but I have one of these that sits on top of my huge old Post Office desk.

It suits me better as I did not want to get rid of my existing desk which has drawers underneath that I use and this way I have half a desk that stays still for a CCTV setup and paperwork etc.

I'm still happy with my Heartdeco desk around R6 000. Sorry I never did a review. Actually forgot between all the moving.

It is compact. But you can put a bigger top on. However it only has one motor, so I suggest if you need more desk space to go with two motors in order to handle the additional weight.

At home? Recommendations without breaking the bank Any other feedback? Are they worth it?

I still think my standing desk is worth it, and while I don't primarily work while standing, I often stand for 30 - 60 minutes once or twice a day.

I don't know of anything cheaper than what RedViking mentioned that would be worth it for me.

I have a deskstand tekdesk 2.0 and a heartdeco desk. I prefer the latter, which I actually use in the garage, so the fact that the thicker part of the legs are above the smaller parts, actually makes sense.

My TekDesk 2.0 should be here early next week. Looking forward to getting it setup. Personally I went with them because I need a super low desk, like 62cm. None of the other options I looked at could go that low. The sale price of 6900 is a lot more manageable on the wallet than at 9999.

Staying at an Airbnb and they have one of these https://www.walkingpad.co.za/collec...ucts/wp-pro-desk-white?variant=37389911228591

Works well, motion is smooth and the desk is stable when typing.

Even though it's hand-crank, it only takes a few seconds to move. Sure, not as convenient as motorised, but a hell of a lot better than a static desk.

Not as large as my TechDesk of course, but more than enough space for a moderate setup.

I'm about to purchase a standing desk. I have a built-in desk in my home office space so I need a "top of desk" option like the DeskStand or Desk Converter. I'm just not sure which is the best option.

If anyone has bought either of these, please share a review of your chosen option.

Desk Converter. That's a good price, I got mine from Makro for a few bob more.

I fit my laptop, docking station, soundbar, external boom mic, mousepad, boomed light and 32"monitor with ease, and conversion is a quick process. 3 year warranty vs 1 year for the other one. Not to sure how quick the conversion on the other one is too.

Have anyone here tried something like this with their Tekdesk standing desk?

I like the idea. It is easy for me to stand for an hour, but I do forget to go back to standing most of the time. For now I stand up for meetings, but usually I only have standup once in the morning which is when I get most of my standing in now. Also nice o be standing for standup again.

Did you ever manage to do something like this with your Tekdesk?

I have to be honest, have too any projects going most of the time, that this one was completely skipped
Thanks, I was able to get it working fairly easy with Home Assistant.

Just chop a spare ethernet cable and connect it to an ESP board. Then connect into the spare RJ45 port on the control box.

Here’s the pinout if interested:

How is the heartdeco desk holding up? I am comparing that and the ergonomics direct thing but honestly the first fits much better into my budget. Just worried about the warranty only being 6 months. You think it is self repairable?

To be honest, it still works 100%. Haven't had a single issue with it. So unfortunately can't comment on the diy repair part, because I haven't had to take anything apart. I think it should be similar to the other brands.

I still stay with the comment, if I had to choose again, I take the Heartdeco over the Tekdesk.

That said, between the 2 standing desks, neither have given real problems. The Tekdesk, have once stopped working after it was moved. All that we had to do to fix it, was to just make sure the legs are properly aligned (yeah they can be out by just moving the desk), then there is a reset procedure and then it works fine again. This I guess can happen on all of the brands, they use similar controllers.

How long have you had yours now if you don’t mind me asking? Might just go for the heart deco dual motor one. There’s a brateck one at first shop as well with a 1 year warranty but that one doesn’t really have any reviews
