Star Citizen

I played with 40+ FPs most of the time unless things were having a heart attack, but the throttle response was basically all over the show. Seemed like a definitely bug or oversight. Ill wait for more complete 3.0 builds and give it another bash.

For interest sake, what's your Hangars look like, any interesting ships in there?

The nox is brilliant, but i still prefer the dragonfly. It took us a whole day saturday to get 2 Dragonfly's in the Connie, but then as we took off the server crashed XD

Damn, 40+? My performance has been nowhere near that most of the time. Which server, EU?

As for the hangar, I am the proud owner of a single Aurora LN :D I don't want to spend any more money on ships; will earn the others in game.

I'll be honest, I'm here for the laughs:

Star Citizen will now allow you to buy virtual land with real money

http://www.criticalhit.net/gaming/star-citizen-will-now-allow-buy-virtual-land-real-money/

The door is closing on 2017, and 2018 is looking mighty fine so far. That’s thanks to a slate of upcoming games which so far includes Dragon Ball FighterZ, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball FighterZ. Guess which one of those three games I’m excited for, you won’t belive the answer Kame-Hame-Clickbait attack over nine thooooooooooouuuuuuusand.

Anyway, one game which will hopefully and finally release in a more concrete and semi-complete form? The long-gestating Star Citizen, which so far exists in digital space as a title that has become the poster child for feature-creep. Star Citizen made a name for itself by being the most crowd-funded game in history, thanks to an assortment of spaceships that ranged from peasant to peacock in their opulence.

Said ships would cost several dollars, with the top-tier flagships available to the richest of the richest being priced to match the luxury contained within those vessels. That served a purpose in Star Citizen, helping the project fund itself as development continued on and on and on and on…

Now, Star Citizen has a new way for you to support the project, while earning something in return for your cash: Land. Yup, you’re now able to purchase a plot of digital real estate, in the form of Land Claim Licenses that will “entitle a player to claim a single 4km x 4km or 8km x 8km of UEE land that has been zoned for commercial, residential or industrial use,” says PC Invasion.

The license will also give players a GEOTACK marking beacon, which is used to stake your claim like some sort of old-timey prospector in the wild west. With slightly less dysentery. Maybe. Said beacon will also inform owners of ongoing weather conditions and if someone is up to no good and is attempting to “exploit your property”.

Destroying that beacon is also a criminal offense within Star Citizen, so expect space-shenanigans aplenty. If that appeals to you, then here’s a little something extra: The licenses for virtual land can be sold off between players, so there’s a potential market out there for a game which still shows no signs of ever truly living up to its lofty promises.

Like everything else in the game you will be able to purchase it with in-game currency if you want when the time comes. Nothing is forcing anyone to buy anything with real money but if you're rolling in cash and want to support the development then have at it.

Yep.

I see that article is a local publication, hmmm,

Still, at least it’s less of a scam than Cape Town real estate prices.

anyways, as per the PC Invasion article it is based on,

https://www.pcinvasion.com/star-citizen-now-selling-land-land-claim-licenses

Called Land Claim Licenses, these licenses entitle a play to claim a single 4km x 4km or 8km x 8km of UEE land that has been zoned for commercial, residential or industrial use. Although these “licenses” can be purchased now for cash ($50.00), they will be purchasable with UEC, the in-game currency, when the mechanic is launched in the game.

I don't see this as an scam, and I agree with the video posted here,

https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/561352-Star-Citizen?p=20408151&viewfull=1#post20408151

people are being over-dramatic on the UEE Land Claim license - Lot Parcel, even though it is a revenue avenue to support the controversial game development.

Yes I'm on EU. In Hangar I get 60+ pretty consistently so that's good.

My Hangar also started out with the amazing Aurora LN, which was sold a year later... Now I have a Cutlass Blue (yay for Cutlasses) 2x P72 acchimedes waiting to be upgraded (with LTI), a gladium (upgrading to the new one soon) and an Avenger Stalker, which flies like a aerodynamic brick, but is very pretty.

"Forgive me, but this made me smile a bit."

Yeah I play a crapton of early access games, I was there day one in Ark:Survival evolved, and Iv'e seen issues ranging from just missing textures to missing world geometry for a whole map in some games. So I don't mind the crashes and issues the game has at the moment, as they are still developing.

The most annoying thing in the world is when the kids on the Steam forums cry about broken games and refunds, but they signed up day 1 for the early access expecting a full polished build sigh

FTFY :)

They already made enough money from the Kickstarter to fund 2-3 games. The fact that they're selling virtual items to increase income means either that a) they want more money, or b) they need more money.

B should be scary to anyone that's backing the project. A should make you sigh, it's effectively no different from EA trying to sell win-boxes.

a) they want more money, or b) they need more money.

Those two points are not mutually exclusive and I think anybody would be naive to not think both are true.

They obviously want more money because they need more more money to continue development at the scale they are at currently. Inevitably they will scale down (employee-wise) once the game reaches a more feature complete stage but not having a constant flow of income will mean that this would have to happen sooner which would mean less content in the game. They also want to continue developing the game for a very long time so it wouldn't make sense to change their business model at this time.

it's effectively no different from EA trying to sell win-boxes.

No it's quite different actually. EA provides the operating budget to the development companies for their games to be produced, in SC the backers are providing these funds (i.e. it is their primary source of income). Obviously with a company like EA they have a set budget and release date for their games, this is just not the case with CIG where having a flexible budget means they can spend a lot more time on developing the game (a thing almost any game dev would love).

I'm not saying there aren't any flaws with how they operate but they are kind of in unknown territory as nobody else has had the opportunity do develop a game in this manner and at this scale before. Time will tell what worked and didn't work.

I do have a hobby - gaming. Of course, I prefer games that are completed and actually work.

Well then why waste your time on this forum at all? Forget about Star Citizen and those of us who are actually interested in it. early access is not for everyone. That doesn't mean you need to hang around here like a bad smell making snide remarks every time some posts an update. It's pretty sad, tbh.

Oh come on. Commenting on this games excessive development time and rapacious need for money is legit. If you are going to support this game blindly, then so be it. But stop being so sensitive about it. If you have the stamina to support this in the long run; then you need to develop a thicker skin.

Good points. I just wish they'd focus on something, finish and ship it already, so we can play :)

Funny how the naysayers always tell everyone else to develop thinker skins but have no problem trying to provoke other people.

Anyhow, I've been supporting the game since the original pledge drive and will continue to do so. Comment all you like, but I am sick of people insinuating that backers are somehow mindless sheep who have no ability to think for themselves or critically analyze whether they should continue to back the development.

Have fun and bye bye.

Obviously in the Derek Smarts camp that fella.

Where did I insinuate you are a mindless sheep? I have expressed my doubts as to this game ever seeing the light of day, and just how much money is going where...but the sheep thing is your own insecurity.
