Star Trek Beyond

While this movie didn't have a memorable villain like Khan, and in fact everything involving Idris was pretty crap, I enjoyed this movie more overall. The insight into regular life in the Star Trek universe and on board the Enterprise was really awesome.

Can we talk spoilers yet?

KINDA SPOILER INCOMING

I thought it was a bit lame how readily they believed a complete stranger and sent their best vessel off to navigate some tricky space.
But yeah - was a fun movie, cool soundtrack ;).

Agree with the villain criticism, his back story was cool but VERY rushed. Also getting sick of seeing the enterprise get wrecked but thaqt scene was awesome.

Awesome movie. I really hope it does well in the boxoffice and we get more movies like this.

Yorktown looked incredible. Bit of a Masseffect vibe

The 3D on this really sucks. Most of the scenes happen at night or in space and I hated it.

Ah ok thanks, didn't check the Imax. But still none of the other cinemas.

Don't know what I was expecting, but I mailed them on Saturday asking why it is only showing at one cinema in KZN.
A Ster-Kinekor team member will endeavor to be in contact with you within 24 hours.

Fair enough, that was on Saturday, but only got an answer today.

Thank you for taking the time to contact Ster-Kinekor.
Our system will be updated again on the 6 Tuesday for the following weekend, so you can check again Tuesday if the movie will be showing, but currently its not showing.

Kind Regards

Wow, thanks SK...

Agreed! I watched this with a friend on Friday night in Gateway Cinema 2 and the 3D completely ruined the movie! I couldn't follow the action as it felt like I was staring at nothing more than a dark grey screen for the vast majority of the movie. In fact the scene from the trailer where you see Scotty leaping from a cliff was the first scene I can vividly recall actually seeing in the movie!

Seriously if you have yet to see this movie don't watch it in 3D, it's terrible. Unfortunately Gateway didn't have a 2D screening so 3D was the only option available to us that night. I'm tempted to complain to Ster Kinekor in the hopes that I can get a complimentary ticket to see it again if and when they move it in to a non-3D cinema.

Also watched it in 3D- it's really, really dark (and I don't mean the mood).
The movie itself was quite enjoyable- the parts that weren't in utter darkness.
