Star Wars: The Old Republic!

This is why I rolled on light servers ;)
Never EVER had to wait once in a queue.

Something I found out yesterday, even the main areas are instanced. I was questing in the main Dromund Kaas area (Sith capital), and got invited to a group. As soon as I joined it asked if I wanted to switch to the "Dromund Kaas (2)" instance.

So I guess what they're trying to achieve is to not have the world completely overrun with players such that you sit and camp NPC areas to complete quests. You still do get a sense that the world is populated, but not nearly like WOW.

meh, that's a deal breaker for me... if I play a MMO, I expect only dungeons to be instanced. /pass

Serious !?

yep .... that's why I played guild wars for like 1 hour and then I tried WoW and played that for some time.

I understand the obvious reason as to why all dungeons have to be instanced... but to instance questing areas or any place in the "open world" is lame -.-

You guys dont know what you are missing...it's so much fun that my gf actually started watching star wars because she played on my account a bit...now she a star wars fan and we are busy getting her acount up so we can play together :)...I know i know, I am legend...wait for it...dary

How did you do this??? In my dreams do I get my gf involved in computer games, in my DREAMS.

I dont know...she just watched me play the game, and saw the cinimatics and said it looked interesting. Before I knew it, she wanted to create her own charachter and I explained what she had to do while playing. Then she also started watching the star wars movies because she enjoyed the game so much...she couldnt get enough of em. lol, so I got her her own acount and now we are out the killing and torturing people (as good sith do) together :P.

Ok so bought this game from mmogamersa on xmas night and all i can say is goodbye Wow this game is awesome !!!!!!

I would suggest reading up a little on how the game works. There is a LOT more to it than that, and the instance thing is only temporary. You cannot judge a game on one line of text.

I didn't like GW's instancing as well but the instancing in this TOR is really needed for important bits of the story line etc. Its mainly to keep other players out of your class quests and making the game more immersive. Imagine a really dramatic scene where you torture and kill innocents while some noob in the background is doing a pelvic thrusts on a table. Would completely ruin it for me.

TOR is still completely open world. Only important quests/class quest areas are instanced.

im not a fan of the GW instancing either. What's the point investing in a MMO for single-player experience ? Use your bandwidth for a single-player ???

I prefer the warcraft model where the dungeons are instanced for a group of people. Some like the instancing. Thats their choice.

However, Ill give this game a go and see what happens.

The only instance you really do solo is your class quests. The rest are group instances. You could solo those if you like tho.

If anything this is more driven towards multi playing e.g the daily heroics and social points

Anyone in Durbs willing to let me leech the client files off them? 25gb is a bit much to d/l on a 384k line, drop me a PM or shout out if anyone can I really want to start playing, I'm so over WoW. I live in Toti but work near Gateway so I can get it from wherever!

Rhyder was asking on my behalf, btw. I was driving home from holiday yesterday and couldn't post. So does anyone in JB have the client that I can copy? :D

*sigh* had 60mb left of the infamous English Assets 1 file to go, and it's just restarted the whole thing. 4.8gb to go.

So last night I discovered my accident you can get on board your friends ships... was a WTF? moment. My mate and I were both troopers and we were leaving Taris to go to Nar Shadda, so we headed off to our hangars. Each hangar is supposed to be a personal instance when you enter with your own ship. So He goes in and I start following, next thing an option pops up asking if I want to create my own instance or join his one, So I kept quiet and joined his instance, then followed behind him onto his ship. He didn't see me until his ship was in space, next minute I see "WTF? What you doing on my ship????" Laughter then just burst out on teamspeak.

So we tested it and went on another party members ship, he was a Jedi knight. As long as you are in a party you can go onto your party members ships. You cannot access the pilot controls, though and when you access the storage it is your own storage.

With an fps of 5, I cancelled my subscription. my latency is excellent though, constantly sub 45

I can play Battlefield 3 with no major issues, so it's not my PC.
