Star Wars: The Old Republic!

With an fps of 5, I cancelled my subscription. my latency is excellent though, constantly sub 45

I can play Battlefield 3 with no major issues, so it's not my PC.

How are you getting 45MS?

Tell me something is this game as boring as WOW. Looks very interesting but i a bit worried it will be kuk boring.

It is very similar to wow except u find the combat a lot more active and fun. I think of it as an upgraded wow IMHO

LOL Killa, if you check his location, he is in the UK, hence his low ping ;)

I've checked some streams on Justin.tv and I have to say, I'll never see myself playing a game like this for more than 3 days before complete boredom sets in. You're either cut out to play an MMORPG, or you're not. I'm a Star Wars fan, but the whole MMORPG scene isn't for me. Once again it's a case of different strokes for different folks. To those that are playing it, hope you have a blast, I'll seek my form of online gaming elsewhere :)

Must be hard if someone can only compare from a wow point, at least some of us has been mmo-ing since UO and related. There is space combat and obviously all jedi/sith carry saber. I would however like to know what this "like wow" is.

Wow took from eq and ou and made something with best there of so in truth wow would be like UO/EQ. UO in turn would be like DnD since imho it took some elements from PnP. You'd be searching yourself to death to find a game that doesn't feature some element already been done or have build upon something that worked and felt great. Even more delirious is those that claim TOR is single player game, seriously who is all the other people in my friends list, who is those people running around me and finally who is that that is playing with me my quests. One thing that I do like for a fact is the ability to share someone's story, this now with you being sith warrior, also experiencing sith sorcerer line because you are in same party.

It's a mmo leaning towards casual, if you can't stomach that with interactive dialogue (thank god it's not another mmo with read-a-lot) then you might want to go and look for something else. I quite enjoy the dialogue, the setting, casual (sometimes good to take break from something like eve/darkfall), sounds, colours etc etc.

Just because it's star wars doesn't make it kak, I very well know that (and most of us fans) George properly ****ed up that which was good and now we have this seriously broken canon and story.

Nope, no ship PvP. But if you didnt like wow, i doubt you will like this very much. The game is very linear tho (except for the class quests obviously).

So we can fight other peeps with sabers and poon other folks in the ship we are commanding?
Nothing that can be done in coming expansion as with the ability for redemption or a true fall to the darkside.

Which one ? Vanilla, BC, WOTLK, CATA or pandaren? Vanilla imho still is and was much better than that which followed which clearly took away and made it into a simpleton.

As I've said

Never played WOW, but i played EVE and Guild Wars and Star wars Galaxies. This kicks them all in the nads.

It is very story driven and has top notch voice acting. EVERY quest is voice acted, no reading to find out what you must do. Ship combat is only solo at the moment, it's an on rails shooter mi****me, but it is very very polished and so much fun. There is a surprise development on teh space side coming in future.

It is very similar to KOTOR if you like that, and for some it can be considered a CO-OP RPG if you only want that. There is open world PVP in some areas and there is match type PVP as well.

I have not been able to put this down since 20 Dec. There is new content to be released shortly as well,

If you like Bioware RPG's and want to play them with some friends, this is perfect. I have not done much PVP just 2 matches and they were also cool, but i prefer the whole story and questing.

IGN first impressions

EDIT: mini game apparently is a swear word if typed as one word, lol

Not really sure about that. I couldn't into wow at all but am really enjoy this game. I think if you liked the 2 Kotor games and Bioware games in genereally you will enjoy this even if you disliked wow.

I SOOOOOOOOOOO want to play this game. But I'll wait for it to be in SA before I get into it.

Is there any news on an SA release yet? Or is NuMetro trying to fk us over and the developers scraped it?

No only other regions that been announced is Aus and NZ, first quarter of the year probably March.

No word on South America,Asia,Africa and Eastern Europe yet.

Btw. Distributor is EA not Nu Metro.

So how are you lot playing this if it's not available in SA yet? I had the client (was invited to test) but when I tried logging in it said not available in your region. I got cross and deleted the client.

I've since heard of guys playing via a VPN, but not sure 1. That it's Legal and 2. how to do it.

So please share..

p.s. forgive if it was mentioned earlier in the post - i'm not one for reading a lot..:)

You cannot buy through Origin as it is not officially released here. The default way to buy a key on swtor.com sends you to origin. That is when you get the "not available in your region" message

So instead buy a key from g2play.net.

Create an account on SWTOR.com website.

Download client from SWTOR.com

Activate key on SWTOR.com ( the one you bought form G2play)

Set a subscription plan on swtor.com

Play game

Costs about R500-R550 for key and $14.99 per month to play

clearly misinformed and if you have read the thread and not just replied you would have known:

A) Game is not set in region when you login, there is no IP block.
B) We are not playing via vpn, all connections are made "normally".
C) If there is no A or B then it's not Illegal in anyway.
D) Game can be ordered from amazon.co.uk or someone who actually goes out and buy the game, note the key and send it to you, for example g2play, offgamers or gamekeysbuy.

Why not order it from amazon.co.uk? They offer free super saving shipping till 15th Jan 2012 once orders above 25 pounds and TOR qualifies for it.

Yea no problem ordering it online. But I don't want to use my CC for subscriptions. I forgot about my WoW sub last time and wasted about R 1 000 because of it. Now I don't do subs. Which means I want to buy game time. Which I can only do once it's in SA then I can get it from a reputable dealer for EFT :p

Gametime can be bought via cheapcodes which is zapsonline and they accept EFT. So now REALLY :erm: :D

I bought the key off mmogamers.co.za. Got it within a few hours, and I copied the client from a guy from this forum. Everything is legal, as all the parties get paid, and you subscribe and connect as you would any other mmo. The physical game is just not for sale in SA as the company probably isn;t comfortable with our latency to their servers, so they didn't want to support it. My theory anyway. Somebody aswell mentioned earlier that they can get the physical gamecards aswell, so it's not that hard to start playing.
