I'm thinking of either rolling an Imp Sniper or BH Merc as an alt. The cover system of the Sniper just puts me a bit off form rolling it.

Mercs with "death from above" is just the coolest sounding thing in the plennit. I've squadded with mercs and operatives and their dps / heals are the bee's knees.

How is the game running on 3G?

Downloading it is the easy part. I managed to download the game files before I'd even bought the game. Just click on:
http://www.swtor.com/download

If you leave the launcher open it will down the entire game over HTTP (through some CDN of some sort). There is a log file in the directory that will at least give you assurance that it's doing something.

I'm going to play it on 3G once the servers are up, but I haven't yet. But Rift performs very well on 3G with 250ms and below.

Interesting, I am actually thinking which one of the two games I want to play Rift or SWTOR, and with Rift performing this well on 3G, will probably tip the scales

There are not enough servers.... almost all the low populations are now medium, all the medium servers are now heavy. This is getting insane. Im sitting in a 40 min queue for my toon
