No problem creating an account for SA players. You ae allowed to play swtor from anywhere in the world. You just cant use Origin to Download or purchase a key ( Origin for SA players) .

Just a correction on this. You can download using origin , you just can't purchase using it.

Once you register your key at www.swtor.com, the site automaticly creates the same account on origin and you can download via origin if you want. You just can't purchase the game via origin in SA currently.
 
Downloading it is the easy part. I managed to download the game files before I'd even bought the game. Just click on:
http://www.swtor.com/download

If you leave the launcher open it will down the entire game over HTTP (through some CDN of some sort). There is a log file in the directory that will at least give you assurance that it's doing something.

Thanks for that correction. I see my Origin does show the game activated after I registered my cd-key on the SWTOR site.

The servers are filling up so fast... the medium population server I joined 12 short levels ago is now so full there is a 40 min queue :( Im thinking of rerolling on a much lower population server. *sigh* The user base in the game is growing like something crazy.
 
Yeah the servers are full but the game seems empty. There isn't much chat. Maybe it's all in the level 1-19 zones because once I left them the game is kinda empty :P
 
I think there may be chat settings that you only see chat for the planet you are on by default.

Are there any Saffer guilds on Empire / Republic side of Flame of the Crucible? Who could I chat to about getting relevant invites?
 
I've been reading that this game is instanced like Guild Wars... is this true?

No, guild wars 90% of the world is instanced. In this game only story areas are instanced, say 10% of the game, and there are no loading screens when going in and out of instances, unlike guild wars. Its essentially open world like WoW.

Yes, except the groups are 4 man. You can do 'Flashpoints' which are basically instances. I am level 25 and I have done 5 flashpoints so far. You can do them as many times as you like per day, there are bosses that drop good loot, you roll, there are achievements for clearing it, tactics. It's just like the instances in WoW though I would say a bit shorter. Some are very heavily story driven like the first flashpoint Black Talon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-vY0E5IeCI). The other flashpoints after that are not so heavily story driven so that one is a bit of 'showing off' but shows what they can do. There is a LFG system also, but it doesnt auto match you with people, you got to ask in LFG. But its really easy to find a group since there are tons of tanks and healers.
 
Something I found out yesterday, even the main areas are instanced. I was questing in the main Dromund Kaas area (Sith capital), and got invited to a group. As soon as I joined it asked if I wanted to switch to the "Dromund Kaas (2)" instance.

So I guess what they're trying to achieve is to not have the world completely overrun with players such that you sit and camp NPC areas to complete quests. You still do get a sense that the world is populated, but not nearly like WOW.

On a farking public holiday... they take down the servers for maintenance. #yourtimingfarkingsucks.

Worst is... they take the US servers offline at night, and the EU ones offline during the day :(

Idiots.

Anyone know how long its going to be down for? The broadcast message in game said check the forums, but when I try.. its down as well :(
