Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens

Haven't watched the Star Movies in years and years... So started to rewatch them in lieu of the 16th

So far:
IV - A New Hope -> mostly meh
V - Empire Strikes Back -> fantastic!

Why? Not a good trailer imho.

The visual and sound teases. The Sith - I am assuming it is Sith - dialogue overlay.

Unlike the Batman vs Superman trailer that gave the entire film away, this one does just enough to tease you.

Agreed although the Marvel themes are set in stone in terms of narrative. Check out the honest trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy.

Star Wars can go anywhere.

The best this movie can do at the box office is number 3 , after Avatar and Titanic

This movie is in serious risk of being overhyped especially since there's so much riding on it on terms of expectations in relation to the other the other SW movies.

Avatar and Titanic were new unknowns that people watched over and over contributing to amazing BO.

A few average reviews and people will rather wait to DL even if its a crap cam.

The records i see the latest SW achieving are fastest to
*$100m ,
*$200m etc
*or biggest opening Thursday night and Biggest opening weekend.

Yea, like, I get that hype alone won't make it the biggest movie ever, but the whole 'Phantom Menace didn't break records so Force Awakens won't either' logic is seriously flawed because Phantom Menace was a huge disappointment, and the rest of the prequels weren't much better.

Of course the Phantom Menace broke records.

- Largest single-day gross (surpassing The Lost World: Jurassic Park)
- Quickest film to $200 million (surpassing Independence Day)
- Quickest film to $300 million (surpassing Titanic)
- 1999's most successful film

On top of that, at the time it was the third-highest grossing film of all time in North America and the second-highest grossing film in the world. The 2012 3D re-release pushed its earnings over $1 billion and returned it to the top-10 highest grossing films of all time for a few months.

This movie will coin it. The Star Wars hype is real. I'd even say the expectations are higher now thanks to the pedigree of the director and writers.

This Star Wars seems a lot more adult orientated judging by the trailers.

Recently watched Star Trek and MI3 both JJ Abrams i think so this should be good.

So this guy J J what is he ? A filmmaker or Director ? His directorial debut was MI3 and star trek all of which were not his ideas. Is he only interested in directing films that will perform well at the box office ? All i am saying people like Christopher Nolan and James Cameron create their own characters and stories from nothing and people flock to see their movies.

His a director, producer, writer, actor, and composer

He has created quite a few characters / series - remember Alias , lost Felicity and Fringe

The only thing that matters is that there will be no Jar Jar Binks.
That alone will make this better than the I,II,III trilogy.
