Lol. I know its Star Wars, but when you overhype you lose all sorts of objectivity and then the movie cannot live up to those impossible expectations you have set

Mine too! Had a good laugh doing it... All the seats towards the middle and back of the theater were booked already, except the "love-nest" right in the centre damn lonely nerds!

I have never booked movie tickets this far in advance. Wait, I've never done it at all. I just rock up at the place.

But don't worry. Opening day if every viewing is booked I'll come here to complain

It's a trailer, a sales pitch and the entire point of it is to whet that insatiable appetite that fans have at the moment. A good trailer doesn't mean a good movie....it just means a good sales pitch.

Don't get me wrong, am excited about this too....but I am going to go out and watch it for what i hope will be a good movie set in the SW environment. My expectations are set as such, as to set them higher might invariably lead to disappointment.

I've never quite understood the cult-like adoration of Star Wars. I'm definitely going to watch the new one and I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but it just isn't that great in general.

That's why I'm reluctant to rewatch them. They're more artifacts of my childhood than movies, and I'm afraid if I have to see them now I'll judge them objectively and they won't stand up to scrutiny.

I'll probably give it a week, wait for early reviews to come out and then go see it. No ways I'm going to pirate it or TS it. My guess is, it will be one of the best cinematic big-budget movies of the last few years, even notwithstanding the Star Wars branding. There's just too much hanging on it for them to stuff it up.

I watched 4 5 6 a month or so ago and it still had the same impact, these are classic movies for a reason.

Classics of any nature are classics because they stand the test of time.

I've no doubt, but I'm saying that there's some movies I'll be happy to pay for a cinematic experience. Why would you subject yourself to a cheap rip of a movie anyway? And to get a decent copy, you have to wait at least a couple of months unless something slips out.

That's not a bad idea. I haven't gone to an Imax movie before, I see there's one in Cape Gate. I might just do that.

That's not a bad idea. I haven't gone to an Imax movie before, I see there's one in Cape Gate. I might just do that.

Also never tried the SK Imax before, and booked at cape gate. Looking forward to it, but it's going to be crazy busy though.

The original Wars, Jaws, Alien and Jurassic Park are a few of the movies that made extensive use of puppets, animatronics and/or early CGI that still hold up really well, in my opinion.
