Starcraft 2

update from my previous post

in short i was able to find a copy of starcraft CE at musica in gateway durban yayyyyyyyyyyyy and it was the last one

I opted for the normal edition.. The CE just didn't have enough toys to really justify it for me tbh....

I've played the first 4 missions.. enjoying it immensely, but gonna hold off till muh new graphics card arrives... I wants to play this game in ALL its gloreeee

Blizzard games have never been about the gfx.

Weird system they have WRT rankings. I lost seven games in a row tonight, then won one and got promoted from the silver league to the platinum league. How does that work?
 
Not really an issue atm, seeing as updates total about 40 megs, but can we backup our updates somehow?

Played it on a GTS 250 @ 1920x1200 and it looks great. The briefings are actually kind of mind-blowingly good looking, I've never seen such detailed characters.
 
Hmmmf, Kalahari's page for SC2 doesn't have the image anymore either. Stock issues?

Installed and started playing yesterday with a 5870.... Honestly I wasn't expecting ground breaking graphics, but have to say I'm impressed with the little details.... The Zerg noticibly show off the minor things.... Like on their creep and how their structures 'grow'.
 
The briefings do look good but the onplanet stuff looks way to fake for me (did the volcano planet mining mission last night and the lava looked oh so 90's)

Will go through settings again and see if there is anything i have missed but i tend to think all ultra should cover everything.
 
My worthless 2 cents. /clears throat/ I LOVE STARCRAFT 2! After the screwup that was C&C4 this is a breath of fresh air. Excellent balanced gameplay, good storyline that leave you wanting more, a game that was made for the gamers. We wanted an updated Starcraft 1 and we got it with extra bells and whistles attached. EA you could learn a lot from Blizzard, listen to what the fanbase wants and give it to them. Thank you Blizzard, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
 
I must say that the graphics really arn't that good. I've got a Nvidia card, everything maxed on my 26" and honestly - some of the animations are nice. The colors are vibrant but the graphics overall really look dated. Very warcraft III/Wowish - which stands to reason since it's basically the same engine.
 
I can't believe people here are bemoaning the graphics. Those who do are completely missing the point of StarCraft II - it's about the gameplay and balancing between the 3 races. It's about FUN! Games stopped being fun when everything became about graphics...
 
I hate you all for making me want to buy this now :D Will have it by the end of this weekend!!
 
I want this so bad as well, but spending +-R500 on a game that I am not gonna play online and afaik, can't lan, is a waste imo.

Any idea if there is a lan crack for it yet?
I will pirate the game, but would like to support Blizzard for being awesome.
