Starlink South Africa cutoff casualties

Starlink's decision to cut off roaming users after two months of accessing its service outside their home country has left many households and businesses with poor or no other Internet connectivity options.

That is according to feedback from IcasaSePush, one of the companies unofficially offering Starlink importing services to South Africa.

Unfortunately, Gov, nor local ISPs care. As long as the big guys are gracing the cadres palms with silver to protect their mobile networks and other infrastructure from the threat of Starlink to their fleecing business models - i see a lot of red tape for Starlink that just get more and more complex...

The minister of communications could change this situation overnight if he had the political will. The fact that he doesn't really says volumes.

But why? STarlink isnt needed, no need to put any fighting energy into it. Not worth the ministers time.

Completely agree. There is so much more going on here than just a simple dispute over licenses.

It is quite simple, the pathetic legislation is stopping this, ICASA is pathetic in way of doing things, clearly, they have no clue of doing what is needed by the population and have their backward way of thinking. they need to put the population 1st and stop they strong arm of control as they are letting everyone down.

The need for Starlink is clearly proven by the obvious demand. SA should be a free country, where it shouldn't be very difficult to offer new innovative services or products. Unnecessary bureaucracy and delays, high administered costs, trade barriers, high import duties only hurt the long term development and economy of the country.
Better move to Cuba, Venezuela or North Korea, Epah.
And then this term "enablers", where did I hear that before ?
In the local lingo of this area: Ua pota, ha u tsebe.
You talk horse radish.
