Starlink only useful in shithole countries, every person with a functioning brain gets that
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
No, SA has healthy cellphone market, lots of competition, to call them a cartel is just not accurate.Protecting the greedy cellphone cartels and ISPs that's what is going on here. Also it's probably about RICA too. ANC feeling left out and unable to spy on the traffic
I actualy took a look, no one lives there

Those bestiality enthusiasts want you to think that.I actualy took a look, no one lives there
Exactly. Starlink is for 8th world countries. Doesn’t belong in South Africa.Starlink only useful in shithole countries, every person with a functioning brain gets that
A potang ke mmao, marete a hao ebilane. TswibinkiThe need for Starlink is clearly proven by the obvious demand. SA should be a free country, where it shouldn't be very difficult to offer new innovative services or products. Unnecessary bureaucracy and delays, high administered costs, trade barriers, high import duties only hurt the long term development and economy of the country.
Better move to Cuba, Venezuela or North Korea, Epah.
And then this term "enablers", where did I hear that before ?
In the local lingo of this area: Ua pota, ha u tsebe.
You talk horse radish.
Have you been to the freestate lately ?

This area is quite mountainous, population density is low as well...
You seem awfully eager to keep people out of there - is that where you're meeting up with goats?
IndeedThe lady troll is back....
President Trump is misinformed, South Africa is a nice country. I mean the new GNU Government is awesome.Well, Trump himself referred to SA as a shithole country. Some people say that everything that he says is true.
But seriously, there are many place in SA that do not have any internet availability.
For example, I have in-laws living near Hoedspruit that have very limited internet. Apparently someone provides internet from some mountain top, but it is R2000 per month, and very unreliable.
Also know of someone in the Cape.
This statement that everyone has access to mobile is just not true, and it can also be very expensive.
This is true and is in line with my experience. When I moved to CT I had to struggle, eventually just moved to another area where there was FTTH, but that took 2 years. There has been a substantial decrease in the number of households that don’t have access to the Internet in South Africa, the 2022 Census shows. This is true and is in line with my experience. You couldn't get mobile internet in Cape Town???? crazy stuffThis is true and is in line with my experience. When I moved to CT I had to struggle, eventually just moved to another area where there was FTTH, but that took 2 years. Some people in this thread live in la la land
Well I have a job, so I can't be here all the time.Indeed
Hihi, I am not going to debate the numbers of stats SA.@LadyTitania , I'm sure there are plenty of those in such need here but you should just know that the last Census was considered a dismal failure, not accurate at all and scoffed at by many professionals.
Oh. So your solution is to use a completely inferior product at a much higher price. You couldn't get mobile internet in Cape Town???? crazy stuff
But your Area already had Satellite broadband, expensive yes , but it is there
and these companies actually comply with our laws and contribute towards our economy.
The thing I struggle with most is what problem is star link solving, that requires us to modify our laws, just to accommodate star link , and so far I have not seen a convincing argument. Just opinions based on limited personal experiences.
