Hi I have an network of clients supplying computer networks and hardware, I was thinking of starting an ISP Department in my company and supply ADSL and Hosting with e-mail to all my clients, I found this web site www.ispinabox.co.za after reading some comments on your site, what I want to know is if any body know this company as there prices are very good and all products are branded under my company name, or is there any other companys out there that I can use, what I like about ISP in a BOX is they supply me with a lot of other products as well.

Thanks
Sean

With a bit of efforded will be sitting on top of a successful Internet-based business in no time!

From this page: http://www.ispinabox.co.za/solutions.php

I don't know about you, but I don't know what the hell that means. I'd be a bit weary of a company that makes a statement like that personally. If they're selling internet related stuff and their own website isn't even proof read... *wonders*

Most ISPs simply resell SAIX / Internet Solutions offerings. I would recommend contacting both of those companies to see who can give you some advice; then take your busniess to whoever is most helpful.

These guys are probably a middleman sitting on SAIX/IS - so unless they offer something really worthwhile it would probably be better for you and your customers (price wise) to just go straight to SAIX or IS.

The handling of all the debit orders etc by InX might be sufficient motivation for you, but it's still worth checking out the other options.

Tried that

I looked into this a few years ago and went through one of the middle men instead of saix/IS , trust me not a good idea. My suggestion is saix/IS

Thank you for the info, I contacted them and got a document with a whole explanation, you were correct they sit on a 2 meg SAIX back bone and a 6meg fiber from IS to there own server room for hosting and mail, and resell the IS Internet access.
Must also mention we all do not have the capital to start up with this type of bandwidth.

I looked at IS in the past they what me to spend R10000 to join and R28000 per month the ISP in a BOX company gives me the same the same as IS and more for less, I must say appart from the spelling mistakes on the web site there back end runs like a well oiled machine, I do not mind to pay a few Rands more for a IS ADSL connection but I do not have to spend a huge amount every month on a connection fee. Did you know that IS is charging R40-00 a dial up and R12-00 per mail box if you do not have your own mail servers?
The ISP in a box company charge me R44-00 including 3 mail boxes. I must say have not found another company with these prices.

As you mentioned they do my debit orders as well.:)

I have signed up with the ISP in a BOX Company.
Thanks what a pleasure working with them
Much cheaper then www.brandedinternet.co.za, and I make my own prices, a wide variety of ADSL is available.

isp

What happen when you have enough clients to setup your own isp? Will they let you take your existing clients?

DO NOT USE ISP IN A BOX

ISP in a box have good prices and a wide variety of plans but you are locked in for periods of 12 months , if you try to cancel your account before the end of your 12 month term they will penalise you big time - as in thousands.

Unless you plan on getting locked into a long term contract don't go anywhere near isp in a box or inx for that matter. Also their hosting services are way below par and their local hosting is way to expensive.

I speak from experience , i have been using their service for a while now and recently tried to cancel my contract becuase i found better suppliers - i was slapped with a R4000+ fine for cancellation.

Honestly speaking their are better suppliers out their , for hosting i would suggest go with amplehosting / Afrihost , for ADSL products go with imagine (R45 per gig, plus usage rebates).

Using Non-contracted suppliers give you the benefit of easily moving your services.

Well you just brought back to life a thread that is 4 years old!

Yeah i kinda did , but anyway hopefully this will be helpful to people currently looking at outsourcing ISP services.

And here I am, 8 years later. For those that went with ISP in a box, how is their experience thus far? Also, what kind of backend system do they use? is it a matter of providing you with a WHMCS-type control panel for clients to be able to cancel and buy their own services or do you have to build everything (from website to whmcs etc) yourself?

I am looking for a good way to generate passive income, I can build my website but Id like to fully understand ISP in a box before going for it.
