Starting out with Sonoff

How many are you planning on getting - coming in from China is gonna take long but it will save you TONS of money. I saved half of my money bringing them in from BangGood
Need about three or four

Why do you like like those 'smart' switches ?

The lack of an actual click button is off-putting to me

I'd much rather buy a 'real' light switch and make that smart - also much more option as to the looks / colours etc

I agree, I don't like touch-switches and it is too much of a change for many existing users.

Ideally I would like a push-button, which doesn't say "DIM" but still looks like a light switch, with a LED to indicate it if is on or off. I currently make do with CBI push-buttons (unfortunately intended for dimmers, so it says DIM) and looking at the light itself to see if it is on or off. This is paired with a Sonoff Mini or a Shelly in the light box.

Using a push-button has additional advantages -- you can use double-tap, triple-tap or push-and-hold for additional options.

Just get the sonoff mini's and connect them to the switch, then you have the best of both worlds. You may have trouble fitting 3 behind a single switch tho.

Anyone know where I can purchase some Sonof T0 or T2 EU smart switches, that look like the below?

I have found a couple of links but they all look dodgy - https://cable5.co.za/products/sonof...th-alexa-and-google-home-ac-100v-240v-eu-plug
If you are prepared to wait 2 or 3 weeks:

[R276.58 27% OFF]SONOFF T2 EU/US/UK AC 100-240V 1/2/3 Gang TX Series 433Mhz WIFI Wall Switch RF Smart Wall Touch Switch For Smart Home Work With Alexa Google Home Smart Home from Consumer Electronics on banggood

So turns out the EU switches are not the same size as the ones we use in RSA

The one I have is 120 x 120 and these are 86 x 86

Shelly had a 2 channel which can help (Shelly 2.5).

They're 2 * 10A with power monitoring for each channel ... and like all Shellys, the size of a cookie.

Can confirm 2 shellies = a tight fit. 3 will be impossible. Lucky for me, I only needed 2 places with 2 shellies behind a light switch. Mostly used the shelly 2.5s myself.

Yup - I only have a max of 2 gang x switch (luckily) .

After searching for South African facebook group about smart homes, and home automation where I can ask for assistance and not finding any. I created one where people can share ideas, and ask for assistance and also trade devices you no longer use or need.
Please feel free to join.

My freaking pow 2r goes offline a lot sigh, only way to bring it up is to power cycle
