was the red and black just connected to either side of the light switch? looks like they probably using red as in and black as out for the switch leg, meaning you have no neutral there and cannot install a basic
Yeah, just those two connected to a single gang. So I have to pull neutral first?

Yeah or you need to go with another type of product that works without a neutral. Or install the basic in the light fitting with the light switch always on.

You need to pull another cable like that you see, so that you have 2x black and 2x red, to make it less confusing what is neutral. Then just rewire correctly at the light itself.
At the light on the roof? Red to red and black to black?
I'm looking at the 1 gang sonoff light switch, it has a space for 3 connections.

Picked up a strange issue. I have a Sonoff TH16 that controls an extractor fan. Last week our internet went down and shortly after we had a power failure for a couple of hours. The internet is still down (waiting for Vodacom) and since the failure, the TH16 is not reporting any temperature of humidity values. I can still turn the fan on manually so it is still connected to the wifi network. I just don't know why the sensor values are not being reported. I am using SonoffLAN to control these locally, they are not flashed.
So many non-complaint things happening here
(I know it isn't your fault).If you can, figure out which wire is the live wire and which goes to the light. Wire coming from the DB should be red and the wire going to the light yellow.
Black is neutral only (by law).
You can just put yellow tape over it.
Also technically your earth wire should be attached to the inside metal frame, but that can be more tricky so next time.

just starting out with sonoff and as in EU we mostly dont have neutral wire behind the swith, the ZBMINI-L felt perfect for my use. I got it working with no issues with one swith, but most of my lights in the house have 2-way switches, which I just cant figure out.
the situation is folowing:
switch 1
switch 2
black line is apparently phase in as its always live.
violet are the L1 and L2 and the red in switch 1 is neutral
so we have this situation:
now, how to connect the wires with ZBMINI-L?

I'm using the sonoff door switches DW wireless etc, and they are a pain in the *** to change batteries every month ish.
Use them to notify of deep freeze open, garage doors etc and have scenes setup for various reasons.

Zigbee?
Low-power rf sensors. Their batteries generally last a few years. A Zigbee hub is required to interface the sensors to the control system (eg: Home Assistant)
