State capture inquiry begins

While we're all appeased by the Zondo Commission, the theft and ineptitude continues.

Auditor General (AG) Kimi Makwetu said not one of the 14 big state-owned entities (SOEs) audited by his office received a clean audit, a poorer outcome than last year.
And the people responsible for that have nothing to fear, because there will not be any consequences. So, why worry? Waste money and go on as before, nothing will happen.

Now this seems a reasonable estimate compared to paltry 2.6 Mil for saxonwold - I still think there was some extreme dodgy deal in that auction.

>>After all, she said, if all South African civil servants would be banned from continuing work after disciplinary proceedings, “we would have nobody working”.

Very true

What is this leading the witness thing? Did J expect hole-in-the-head to respond 'No Justice, zuma was very calm as he had taken his shower few minutes ago' ?

Given all this, Judge Raymond Zondo suggested to Nkoana-Mashabane, Zuma must have been furious.

“The first time I had a conversation with him [about Waterkloof] he looked very, very angry,” Nkoana-Mashabane confirmed.

You would however cut down on (wholesale) theft.

Never heard of a chain saw.

Sad to imagine that the Guptas could have been shut down in 2011, saving the country untold grief and billions:
Wasn't Mo one of Zuma's buddies? I am not sure if I should believe him. It seems that some people are singing anti-zupta tune in an effort to garner public sympathy.

It appears they fell out. Him and his brothers were in the Zuma inner circle at some point which is why Zuma appointment him to SSA.

There were many opportunities around that time to shut the whole thing down, but they never saw the light of day.

ah ok. Well, if Mo has evidence to back it up, then all good. Any dirt on zuptas is welcome. I really thought Mo ran away to australia but maybe it was chippy.

This "inquiry " is mostly just a charade. . They've even had arch globalist cretin Peter Hain testifying. This is the guy who once claimed there was no corruption in the arms deal involving BAE.....

Then there's the small matter of him being cosy with the new Zimbabwean regime.
Peter Hain, a British peer, made headlines in South Africa when he campaigned against state capture. But Lord Hain does not appear to be applying the same high standards to his own commercial dealings in Zimbabwe, as an examination of his business partners reveals.

The peer himself admits that he is now working directly with senior officials “complicit” in former President Robert Mugabe’s dictatorial regime.

Hain did not respond to the specific questions posed to him by the M&G and amaBhungane, but said his new business partners have turned over a new leaf. “Some of those who were senior figures in Mugabe’s dictatorial regime, though clearly directly complicit, are part of the current transition and are promising a better economic and human rights future under better governance.”
