State capture inquiry begins

#PravinMustFall Malema: These people I am mentioning by name, you must engage with in a civilised manner and not violently. Violence is for those who are empty in the head, the EFF thrives on superior logic.

Hot damn, he just called his deputy president empty in the head.

Julius is really shooting his mouth off, looking to be arrested for contempt IMO: https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/art...ign-against-the-zondo-commission-and-gordhan/

Economic Freedom Fighters President Julius Malema on Tuesday upped the ante on his campaign against the Zondo Commission of Inquiry.

Julius Malema was speaking at the end of two days of protests outside the commission’s offices in Hillbrow, Johannesburg by the EFF. The party initially said its protests were against Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan, but this has now morphed into a general attack on the Commission.

“This bastard doesn’t ask questions,” said Malema on Tuesday, in reference to Pretorius whom he said was allowing Gordhan to lead evidence unimpeded by questions. He repeated the word “bastard” a few times to describe Pretorius.

“Our trust in this Commission is getting tested,” said Malema, who also aligned himself to the set-up of the Commission as he reminded the gathered protesters that he had fought to stop former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s report into State Capture from being interdicted by the former president.

But then he immediately launched into another attack on the Commission, saying it risked becoming a “Mickey Mouse commission” and a waste of money because it is being held at Hill on Empire, a building owned by the Tiso Blackstar media group. The EFF has attempted to impute a connection between this rental agreement and how the title’s various groups are reporting on the Commission.

EFF leader Julius Malema addressed a crowd of party members picketing outside Tiso Blackstar offices in Johannesburg on Tuesday and made a statement that left some of his followers in stitches.

It is no secret that the EFF wants Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan out, but the EFF leader said they needed to be strategic about dealing with him. Malema said there was no need to use violence when dealing with people such as Gordhan. In fact, he said, violence was for those who were “empty” in the head. “The EFF thrives on superior logic,” he said. This was, however, the first comment on the EFF’s tweet reporting on Malema’s speech:

They'll probably try to use their voting leverage to have the ANC remove him. Like say EWC. They could refuse to vote with the ANC unless they agree to remove Gordhan. Or offer them back Tshwane and Joburg in return for Gordhan. The EFF leaders obviously have a lot to lose or even being exposed if SOEs are cleaned up. Malema and his ilk are likely beneficiaries of the chaos wrought by Zuma and they need it to remain.

READ: Gordhan's closing remarks to Zondo commission regarding his daughter

Witnesses appearing before the Commission, like myself, are quite willing to be attacked politically, quite willing to be criticized politically, quite willing to be corrected if we presented wrong evidence, but it would be very nice if our critics come forward under oath, and present themselves to this Commission.
• What is unacceptable, are attacks on families.
• This information about my daughter is submitted for the public to understand.

Part of what is going on is the descent to racism that we are seeing in this country as a cheap political mechanism to launch attacks.

When will we see arrests for the racist BLEFFs?

Any chance of a screen shot of those Twatter links?

Inserted in original. In essence, Gordhan's daughter seems to be on the board of a few companies that have tenders. Not clear if Pravin was involved in the decision-making at all.

When Nhlanhla Nene was removed as finance minister in 2015, former National Treasury director general (DG) Lungisa Fuzile received a call and was told that he was going to get a "Gupta minister", Fuzile told the judicial commission of inquiry into state capture on Wednesday.

The former DG told inquiry chairperson, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, that the night Nene was dismissed he received a call from ANC economic head Enoch Godongwana who said to him: "You are now going to get a Gupta minister who will arrive with his advisers."

Nene was removed from Cabinet on December 9, 2015 during a reshuffle and was replaced by Des van Rooyen, who remained in the post for only a weekend.

. Ndlozi says Zondo commission 'must get out' of Tiso Blackstar building

PARLIAMENT - EFF MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi on Wednesday reiterated the party's protest to the Zondo commission of inquiry into state capture sitting in Hill on Empire, a building owned by Tiso Blackstar media group, in Parliament.

In a declaration on the budgetary review report of the chief justice, Ndlozi told the National Assembly: "The Zondo commission must get out of the headquarters of Tiso Blackstar with immediate effect."

The BLEFF are starting to become a real PITA.
Why? Let them shoot their mouths off.

It's obviously an attempt to cover something up, and all their noise will lead to this coming out sooner than later...

The Zondo Commission is now the Ground Zero of our pre-election politics, with claims inside the venue being loudly fought through protests outside the Braamfontein building. Furious attacks are being levied upon those who are testifying under oath, with political players fearing damage either to them personally or to their short- and long-term interests. At the same time, there has been speculation about why Luthuli House in general, and President Cyril Ramaphosa in particular, have remained silent in the face of the fiercely personal attacks on State Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and his family. The ANC has now confirmed that it will respond to those attacks, and to the attacks on the commission itself, on Thursday. Their response will be closely watched by those attempting to sift the tea leaves carried on the currents of the ANC’s internal dynamics.
