Jessie Duarte is truly a vile little troll....

Testimony at Zondo Commission is an onslaught against the People

It is worrying that democratic centralism is the subject of a commission led by a judge who, with respect, practices his craft based on the narrow parameters of existing laws. One can only hope that the Zondo Commission is not going to turn our democracy into more of a neo-liberal concoction than it already is.
And she is part of the ANC top 6...o_O, Nice response from Stephen Grootes.

Jessie Duarte’s onslaught on the Zondo Commission, decency and justice

Instead of trying to allay fears of corruption, or finding ways to show that the ANC will renew itself, the party’s deputy secretary-general is attacking a commission that most South Africans support.

WTF?! He wants the public to pay his R1m lawyer's fees to "help prepare his submissions"? **** him. Greedy ****! No doubt the money would just end back up in his pockets buying more suits.

He has to fix his (friend's?) GT-striped car somehow, now that his benefactors are gone and his connections got shown up in court.

Even if it costs me my home.
I very much doubt he will lose home. Must have been compensated amply for selling passports etc. Although, I suspect it will be mostly cash.

That's one confused deputy SG, the sooner she picks a side the better for her.

Wow things have really heated up at the Zondo commission in the last while.

To be fair inviting comment from other political parties 2 months before the end date of a 3 year process does sounds like somewhat of an afterthought.

Oops reread the article it was over a year ago. My bad

State capture witness copies Zuma's arguments, says he won't testify

A sequel to the defiance of former president Jacob Zuma is unfolding at the state capture inquiry.

Businessman Auswell Mashaba of Swifambo Rail Leasing may be the first person to follow in the footsteps of former president Jacob Zuma and refuse to comply with a summons issued by the Zondo commission.

This was revealed by evidence leader advocate Vas Soni on Tuesday.

Mashaba was summoned to appear at the commission on Wednesday to face questions about allegedly unduly benefiting to the tune of billions of rand under the leadership of Lucky Montana, the boss of Prasa.

However, said Soni, Mashaba unleashed his lawyers on the commission last Monday with a clear message — Andizi (I am not coming).

.

And so the rest will also follow.

I am concerned for the Zondo Commission, the establishment thereof. They are supposed to finalise their recommendations this year which will then be submitted to the President. What is going to happen then?

Essentially they have one additional month to bring in state witnesses. Seeing that Zuma have until March 30th to give testimony it is understandable why an urgent extension was granted without opposition.

The commission made it previously clear that 4 months will be required to prepare their statements and recommendation which will be submitted to the President. What the then President will decide, well, maybe he will allow it more time to think over and have consulted with his compadres. What will happen then?

Pending how they will go about Zuma, Zuma may have two trials running side-by-side, and courts tend to give leeway under these circumstances. It will be a brutal blow to see the arms deal trial through and only then engage in a state capture trial because this will take YEARS. Not to mention that a state capture trial will also have a lengthy pre-trial. Pending on whom they want to be sentenced… it may take another +10 years.
