Static Noise on PC Speakers

If the pitch of the sound also changes when you move the mouse or open a window then you probably have what is called blitter noise. This tends to be caused by an interaction between the graphics card and the sound card. Being an interaction on the board this can get complicated.

The first thing to do is check the electrical grounding, as others have suggested. Bear in mind that the computer and it's power lead are not the only potential source of ground loops. The ground also runs through your signal cable to the monitor and the power cable to the monitor. Unplug these two cables one at a time and see if that effects the noise.

Next check is to see if the PSU voltages are within range.

If none of this works then it gets complicated. One thing to try will be to update both the sound and graphics drivers.

No, just normal speakers with a USB and audio jack. No plugs.

1. Try different USB socket for speakers.
2. Use external power source for speakers (by example self-powered USB hub). If doesn't help, reconnect speakers USB plug back to PC.
3. Disconnect everything except speakers (keyb, mouse and monitors). If doesn't help it is not ground loop problem, it is internally generated noise.
4. Take out motherboard and power supply from the box and test it on the desk. Try different power supply. Inspect PSU and mobo for bulged capacitors.
