Does anyone know where I cand find the nutritional info for the steers menu? I know mcdonalds has their's online, but I can't find one for steers.

I'm trying to figure out which the healthiest option is, in terms of weight watchers points. Unfortunately my weight watchers bok has points for kfc, nandos and mcd but not for steers :(

Steers is actually nutritious ..who'd'a thunk it!

...eat elsewhere? but, OT, how about the chicken pita with no sauces (of any kind!) on it? That's a grilled breast, shredded lettuce and a tomato slice in a (really very thin) pita 'bread'. Also, for Steers, it's not exorbitantly expensive either.

lol @ Cath - take-aways are not healhty, the healthiest option would be to not eat take-aways at all!

Tastey Foods KFC and McDonalds are not going to let you lose weight, sorry.

If we've got all judgemental crap out of the way, is there anyone who can actually answer the question?

healthy foods are the most expensive of all :(

Not always, depends what you buy i think. Can you put a price on health though? Look at americans they eat out more than in because it is cheaper and half the nation are obese :p Now being obese means you eat a crap load of stuff which i am sure would cost more than eating well and keeping yourself under 400kg's :p

Thing is I disagree, their fast foods are dirt cheap hence them being able to eat more. They get more bang for their fast food buck! So they essentially get obese a lot quicker and cheaper than us folks here in .za (Look at the price of a yummy King Steer, chips and coke!).

Plus everything there is drive through ....

Yes but surely that is a good thing, do you want 1/3 of our population being over weight and 1/5 being obese?

Sorry but when you see some of those kids in America i feel very sorry for them because they get brought into a society where eating out is cheaper and easier, thus from a young age they are fat.

My family has never struggled for money but we never eat out more than once a week and the rest of days we cook our own food. Take-out should be a treat.

IMO there are too many lazy young people who don't want to cook their own food.
It's much easier to stop for take-a-ways!

Or maybe busy people who are tired when they finally get home and don't have time to go shopping for fresh ingredients, then chop and prepare and finally cook and wash dishes?

Not that I eat take aways a lot; I generally go for the (probably equally unhealthy) ready meals. With weight watchers though I'm trying to make more food from scratch, but it does take a lot more time.

The steers was more in the nature of a weekend treat. If you're following a well balanced, healthy diet during the week one Steers dinner over the weekend is not going to be a train smash!

What's the best junk food so far based on your research CathJ?

I don't think Kauai and Osumo count as junk food - just my opinion.

Probably Nando's, assuming you don't have the options with tons of Miracle Whip.

Kauai are probably best, but I agree that they don't really count as junk food. Global Wrapps also have some very healthy options (and some not-so-healthy ones as well ;))

oh this is some bull****, here people are complaining about being a little chubby because they eat one or two Big Mac's.

I'm eating like there's no tomorrow, and I'm not gaining ANY weight. How is this possible!? I'm over being skinny :p. I want some sort of weight :(

because you don't follow my diet dude...

Scotty people like you can eat what they want whenever they want and not gain weight at all, not very many people like that.

I heard a rumour that these take away places that claim to be better are not better if you get into the calorie, carbs thing.

If you want to lose weight, have a good breakfast and eat fruit/salad the rest of the day with a normal meal at night. You cannot go wrong. While i understand not everyone can cook the way they want to, you must realize that in order to obtain a goal you need to find time. Saying i am to busy to cook is a rubbish excuse in my opinion for most. Sure if your working flat-out 18 hours a day it is understandable.

Killa, if you don't live someone else's life you can't comment on what is or isn't rubbish. And there's more than one way of having a healthy, balanced diet that leads to weight loss.
