Stellenbosch ADSL Conection Loss

Problem Symptoms:
For the last four months i have been experiencing TCP/IP connection loss on my ADSL account. This is most apparent during online streaming and downloads which abruptly halts and looses TCP/IP connection after no specific interval of time or data transfer.

It seems to happen on both IS and SAIX the service providers seem oblivious to this problem however numerous colleagues have informed me that hey have the same problem on their ADSL lines irrespective of speed and service provider.

Any suggestions will be helpful. An if u have this problem hassle your ISP or Telkom as much as possible.

PS.
I'm not incapable with computers so its not the obvious problem, nothing on my side of the deal!!

Hey,

I am also in the STB area and are experiencing exactly the same problem. I have tried the following accounts:

WebAfrica IS, Axxess SAIX, Axxess 626 (unshaped) and OpenWeb. I have tried two routers and three computers.

What I have also noticed is that when I switch to my dial up (yes i know!) account, I can continue the download and when I switch back to the ADSL, everything works again.

This is quite frustrating! Any help in this regard would be brilliant!

How often do these disconnects occur? Every 2 or 3 months or every day?

This happens on any random download or stream.... its not a connection loss its just the TCP/IP connection to the remote server (site) is lost. Everything looks fine and browsing still works but data transfer is no longer possible on tha specific file or stream.
