Steps to solve 619 errors ??

Dont really know what's involved with the SIM Swop. I just refer the customer to one of the sales consultants i work with. It takes up to 24hours until the new SIM is activated. Its much better and quicker than having to an unknown number of days for the error to resolve itself. And it leaves a happy customer.

Just a note... The error differs from Application to application. Error 619 is displayed in VMC, and with the VMCLite its "The connection to the port was closed. And the same with VMC, it says something similar - "The port was disconnected"

I am getting this annoying error now. "Port disconnected" I have tried new sim cards and all. Very odd. I was using a bundle this morning and took a break to defrag my notebook and now this 619 error. :(

Really at a loss here. I have tried 3 new sim cards, two old sim cards, rebooting, reinstalling the software and changing the profiles but I can't connect. Every single time it's the same "619" error. Could someone please help me out?

Are all three SIM cards from Vodacom?

I haven't been able to connect with my Vodacom SIM all morning (619 error as well), swapped in my Virgin Mobile one and been surfing on that.
Maybe there's some problem with logging people onto the network in the Cape Town area.

Pre-paid. It's working again though on all my sims. Strange that. Didn't see anything strange on any of the VC systems. Glad it sorted itself out though, I can carry on testing :)

Also had many major pre-paid[DB] 619 problems today - was ok early this morning, but after I disconnected and tried connecting again, I couldn't get connected due to constant 619 errors, until now...

Luckily I had ADSL to fallback on.

Actually rpm asked us to disconnect you as much as possible. Apparently your high post rate is giving some of the post whores 'small-poster syndrome'....

I do apologise that we are forcing you to fall back on your favourite provider....;)

   and here I was thinking that it was just the local base-station that had too many modems already connected to it :p.

If you don't mind, would it be possible to let us know the quasi-technical cause(s) of most of the diagnosed & fixed 619 errors so far? - I'm very curious to know if any of my theories are even vaguely correct...

Are the pre-paid connection problems seen as 619's?

If so, it's basically a capacity issue on the engines where you get authenticated. The guys have done some load balancing to sort it, but specifically earlier today there was another problem, but that's been resolved. Can you connect at the moment?

They're busy rolling triple the current capacity but (as per usual) it will probably get gobbled up quicker than projected.

That gels with my experience, but I'm hesitant to confirm that all possible pre-paid[DB] problems are experienced as 619 errors.

Unfortunately I'm too chicken to manually disconnect and then try connecting again, so I'm not at liberty to say whether I am currently able to connect again after a manual disconnect.

Hi All

Also on Pre Paid.

I find that sometimes if I am connecting at 3G preferred and I get a 619.

I force the connection to "EDGE Only" and then it connects.

Some connection is better than none.

I am currently on EDGE Only.
