Bird says that if people get fed up with the service they are receiving from the SABC, they could eventually turn to broadband Internet video services instead.

i always thought you only need 1 license, unless the other tv's are at different locations?warichard said:If you have 3 TV's you have to pay for 3 licenses

The single license wouldnt cover you once you left the house though.Q: Our family has more than one television set. How many TV licences do we need?
A: A single domestic licence is required per household, provided that:
all sets so licensed are used only at the licence holder's residential premises;
all sets so licensed are used only by members of the licence holder's family.
Afaik e-tv doesn't get any of it since they are a commercial station. If they can survive without it then so can the SABC. It's all about greed you see.Madman88 said:I would like to know how much of this "govenment licence" goes to e-tv? Its like buying bread at Spar and paying a "Shopping licence" to Pick 'n Pay.
Last I heard Etv runs at a massive loss - they barely keep going.Afaik e-tv doesn't get any of it since they are a commercial station. If they can survive without it then so can the SABC. It's all about greed you see.
Bring down license fees, bring down the SABC. Yippee, another example of how companies in SA can't seem to function without monopoly protection.kilo39 said:Last I heard Etv runs at a massive loss - they barely keep going.
One day you'll need a license to cross the street. But how will you get it as you will need one first before you'll be able to go get one? Certainly not over the internet because that will be too bloody expensive at R100/bytes the way things seem to be heading.Piesang said:If things carry on like this then one day you will have to have a TV license to buy a new cellphone.
