My aunts BB8900 got stolen yesterday.
Is there a way to track or trace it by using the PIN or maybe cos it has GPS?

Any ideas anyone?

She heard someone say that the handset is insured by BlackBerry themselves meaning that she will get a replacement from RIM, something which I really doubt...

GPS is one way on phones, to get it location you would have to connect to it? But how?

You can trace the call using the IMEI number if it's on and connected to the network. You would need the police to spearhead the operation, which I doubt they will do for a stolen phone (I've known a case where they refused to try for a murder). Most of the time the crim's dont turn the phone back on.

No special free insurance either I'm affaid. If you have not been paying for insurance - you don't have any.

It's very unfortunate! Sorry to hear mate.

You need to have preloaded software to be able to trace your BB, such as BuddyGuard.

It can erase all personal data, lock the phone, and give you GPS co-ordinates of the phone all via remote email or sms commands.

What he said ^

BuddyGuard is really worthwhile, a bit late now though :/ unlucky mate.
