Stop whining, MTN and Telkom

I'm still trying to find where the mobile operators said this. Unlike the author, I was actually at the submissions and no-one ever said this.

Considering that Skype and WhatsApp probably use 0.001% of the traffic that Youtube and video downloads do, Telkom, MTN and anyone else is trying to force the voice conversations back onto their own expensive voice services. GET STUFFED.

lol, banana republics and their cellphone providers.

Completely the opposite to TMobile who advertise their network as built for data in the US, and want people to use it.

Are they still crying foul about this :wtf:

Van Zyl said OTT players are using network operators’ own services to “cannibalise” the business.

So I am not allowed to use my data for what I want to use it?
:wtf:

If it was cheaper via cellular voice calls.. People would use it! The fact is that the profit mark up they making is much larger than an ottp is charging + data costs.

So they complain because they reduced to data profits which are narrower and no one uses the VoIP that's built into their own network lol..

I think we will have a massive court case coming soon wherein we will have to take this to high court or constitutional? court(right to communicate?) of Sa to win. ICASA to date has always buckled under pressure from providers and will do so again.

In their opinion... Nope.

It is their network/hardware, and thus all data are belong to them.
They would have us sheep, hand over our cash, while they dictate what we watch and hear, and how we transfer that data.

This is what happens in a closed market.

does the author understand the distinction between observation and plea / lobbying?
a lot of inference is being ascribed to the submissions and those are VERY SERIOUS inferences that while possible are not sufficiently backed by the evidence

True, but when you in a public domain you adhere to ICASA who supposed to control these unhealthy practices.

Same applies when you have a business where you have to employ blacks, pay taxes, etc.

It does not mean they can make and do whatever they want to. They will get penalized for these actions and will die a slow death like telkom for not upgrading their own infrastructure.

Good luck Telscum, eMpTN and Vodakant as you gonna need it you suckers
